Had my Surgery one week ago today. I am back a work and am really tired. I am ready for some real food. I am a little lite headed sitting at my desk today and think it might be the lack of food for a week. I am thinking about trying some mushies for lunch.< /p>

When Did everyone else start Mushies? I have heard 1 week to 3 weeks.

Everything else is going good and I have lost 19lbs Since my Surgery.

Hi Yougotbiggie!

I hope things have gotten better for you over the last couple of days. I, too, am still in the liquid phase and can relate to your hunger. I called my surgeons office and asked if I could have creamed Soups and got the go ahead. I can't tell you the difference that made for me.

If creamed Soups aren't helping you then I'd just suggest you call your surgeons office and let them know your situation before progressing to soft/mushy foods. Each doc has their preferred food schedule so I'd make sure yours is okay with your early progression.

Hope you're feeling better today!

Hi Yougotbiggie,

I too am one week post op!

I feel your pain.. The Clear liquids are getting tired really fast.

I agree with Mellie about calling your surgeon about how and when they schedule your next progression.

Maybe you could switch broth around(chicken veg) Protein shake flavors to jazz it up a bit. I feel the shake and the broth and the Water help me stay full for the most part and a mid-morning, afternoon popcicle, or Jello

Hope it helps!!

-Mary

Yep - I would definately call your doc...when I was lightheaded and worn out it was from not getting enough Protein...........I was "bad" and started on those Soup at hands with the mini star noodles after a few days post op as I really needed something solid - it made a world of difference in how I felt.

Hope you find relief soon!

Hi!

I was banded last Saturday and have done ok with liquids until today...I feel yucky, to say the least...the popsicles and Jello have started making me feel slightly nauseus due to the sweetness...I am struggling with the Protein but I am determined to get it in..I wonder if the resistance to the sweet taste is normal...I have always loved sweets but right now I don't think I can tolerate a popsicle or jello..

Sorry to complain..hopefully, tonight I can find some really tasty shake recipes because I can have those tomorrow!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
