Just had my first fill... don't feel any difference/ yummy soup recipe

Recommended Posts

6 more weeks until the 2nd fill... hope that one makes a difference!

Also... I don't remember who posted it, but I made the turkey taco Soup and it's friggin fantastic! I literally eat it EVERY DAY for lunch, and a lot of days for dinner. So easy, so delicious. You should give it a try!!!

Not my recipe... I got it from a post on this forum

1 lb ground turkey, browned with 1/2 chopped onion and 1/2 c chopped green pepper (I just got frozen... easy!)

Add to crock pot with :

-2 cans pinto Beans (drained)

-1 can black beans (drained)

-1 cup frozen corn (you can leave out if you're worried about the carbs but it's not very much corn in the whole pot)

-2 cans of Rotel tomatoes (they're diced with green chilis... the Rotel are actually better than the delmonte diced with chilis if you can get them)

-1 package of taco seasoning

-1 package of ranch dressing mix.

-I only added about 2 cups of Water and 2 cubes of beef bouillon for flavor... but if you want it soupy add more water

I put a spoonful of fat free sour cream in my bowl of soup and it's fantastic... even my picky family loves it. and EASY!!!!

I love that Soup but I make it with 93/7 lean ground beef. We just don't like ground turkey.

My dh hates ranch dressing but he LOVES this soup! I made it once on a camping trip. There were 4 couples and we picked a night for each of us to cook. I did this soup and they all LOVED it. There was none leftover.

How long do you cook it in the crock pot? I keep hearing about this soup and at first wasn't interested but now I think I need to try it.

Also is your doc strick on fills? My doc sayd 4 weeks between fills but if I go 2 weeks and still can eat whatever I want and as much, to call her and she will let me come in early for another fill. Maybe you should just call your doc and ask?

I left it in the crock pot for a few hours... it's all cooked by the time you put in the crock pot so as soon as it's all hot you can eat it, but I like Soups to really cook. A lot of people just put it in a pot on the stove for half an hour...

My doctor is fairly conservative with fills... slow and steady... I also have to pay for each fill so I couldn't afford to do it too often! I'll just be as good as I can and hope the next fill makes a difference... I've also read other people saying they couldn't feel their fill for up to a week and then the restriction hits so I'm optimistically waiting!!!

I just had my first fill too....and then I had my first unfill. The dixie cup of Water proved to be too much, the Dr took one look at me and said, Oops, I think that was a bit too much.

I, typically, don't know for sure how a fill is going to work for me until 2 weeks after. I don't know what it is, but exactly 2 weeks from the date that I had the fill, I either know I need another one, or know that I'm good. Right now, I'm almost 3 weeks since my last fill and am trying to decide if I need a slight unfill or if I should wait it out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
