ledgins 0 Posted September 27, 2010 I was banded on 9/21. I have had pain in my left shoulder since then. Today it has moved to the left side of my neck and radiates down my arm. Is this normal. I had a heart cath and biopsy on 9/20.. and am trying to decide if this pain is from the band or my heart... Have no had any problems with gas...tried gas-x with no relief. jingleboob 5 Posted September 27, 2010 I just asked my doctor about the shoulder pain last week. I've noticed if I eat too much or too fast I get a terrible pain in my left shoulder when I breathe... horrible stabbing pain. He explained that the band and pouch are right above the diaphragm and if you eat too much and it irritates the diaphragm you get referral pain... so with the band hitting the left side of my diaphragm I'm getting pain in my left shoulder... it sucks. lasts until the food is gone. I try to remember the pain when I eat, but still I underestimate how "full" I am at times
emsbugbug 7 Posted September 27, 2010 I was banded on 9/23 and am having horrible pain in my neck and around my collar bone. I am going to give the Dr. office a call and see if it is gas. I have the most horribly deep burps that are painful, but the pain in my neck is the worst. I will let you know what I find out.
qtney1 1 Posted September 27, 2010 I haven't had the surgery yet (date is Thursday), but I met with my surgeon's office on Friday. In their packet that we went over, they said they have had patients who still have gas pains after taking Gas X, but seem to do much better after taking Mylanta or a generic version. As long as it has 40mg Simethicone, it should be effective. You may just try switching it up to see what works best for you. Good luck!
