Recommended Posts

:confused:I need help! boy do I need help! lol My surgery is in almost two weeks and i am so excited! I want to be succesful! I have no idea where to start as far as stocking up the fridge for before and after the surgery. I also have a 13 yr old daughter o shop for as well. She does some light cooking and we have talked that maybe she could do some cooking while I am in the clear liquid phase before surgery and I think she is a litle excited about that. So my question is....What do I buy????

What things were helpful during this phase for you?

My nutritionist has stated what I need as far as protien etc but I dont know how to put it all together and do the shopping.

:biggrin::confused::crying::confused::frown::confused::angry::confused::mad::confused::confused:Help!!!!:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

A little off the grocery note, but the 4 oz rubbermaid containers were a LIFESAVER for me. When my hubby cooks, he will fill a few of those for me, so its just ready and no need to measure...saves time and stress :biggrin:

Some foods I really enjoyed those first weeks were: Applesauce which comes in a variety of flavors, Cream Soups, sugar free Jello, Cottage cheese, Popsicles (which helped with the swelling ALOT) Mashed potatoes. Amazingly enough I was able to tollerate pureed Stew also after about 3 weeks and it tastes great. V8, Vitamin Water, Tea. I also made my own pureed vegies...carrots and green Beans were my fav...which after I made my "baby food" I put in ice trays in the freezer and put them in baggies...pop them in the microwave for a minute and they are ready to eat.

Hope this helps..good luck on your journey!!

The first few days home I lived off Water and Cranberry juice. I could hardly get down the clear Isopure's (I did not like the taste). I took naps and really rested up. My first "food" was grits...thinned out w/milk. If you can make a smilie face in your applesauce or grits it is too thick. I also enjoyed Cream of chicken Soup, Tomato Soup, sugar free pudding, and non-fat, plain yogurt. Then, on the pureed diet I bought myself a small little food processor ($10). It holds about 1 cup of food. If I could blend it to baby food consistency I ate it. I would cook for the family and then puree my portion. I had meat loaf, chicken, ground beef. I found I really craved Protein. The soft diet was fun because I could finally chew again! I just cooked for the family what I needed to eat. Fish, chicken(dark meat) and ground beef. And soft veggies. Take a deep breath! You can do it. :drool:
