YouGotBiggie 0 Posted September 24, 2010 5 days post op and I am still unable to get more than Clear Liquids down. I am suppose to be drinking Protein shacks but they are too thick. Has anyone else had this swollen / restricted feeling the first week post op?
papoose 48 Posted September 24, 2010 try drinking Liquid Protein, like Isopure or Protein shot. that's all i have been drinking i have not tried Protein Shakes with milk yet. did you suffer from gas?
sunflowergirl 0 Posted September 24, 2010 Yes, I experienced the same thing. I had surgery on the 16th, and just yesterday was able to drink some carnation instant Breakfast in the morning and a few sips of creamy Soup for lunch. Other than that it has been clear liquids. When I saw my doctor on Tuesday, she said to just take it slow, and be sure to stay hydrated.
amy4hr 0 Posted September 25, 2010 Today is the first day I have really been able to have Protein Shakes and cream Soups without discomfort. But I also noticed a great deal of swelling has gone away today, with more to go. My doc also said just to take it slow, and don't push it and make sure I stay hydrated. It still takes me about an hour to get through a glass of Water, just keep sipping
YouGotBiggie 0 Posted September 25, 2010 Thanks everyone, I am going to get the protien shots tomorrow. I was told I needed a lot of protien because of my size. I am over six foot. I was getting a little nervous with only a little broth and juice and Water. I will let everyone know how I progress.
vlp1968 83 Posted September 25, 2010 Another thing to try is watering down the protien shake. That has helped me when I have had swelling after a fill.
