Beachbunny 5 Posted September 24, 2010 Lets start off saying im very pro band , but .... When you work your hiney off to get the band , then to lose weight during band hell time its discouraging to be poked numerous times for her to not find the hole. Im going back to have the Dr do it Monday. hopefully not a flipped port.
spoiltmom 44 Posted September 24, 2010 I'm sorry:( Hopefully the doc can get it on the first try. I will say though my surgeon said that the first time it can take a while to find it. He said after that he normally has no problem.
honk 780 Posted September 24, 2010 Well my nurse stuck the needle in and then swished it around trying to find the port. They then remove some part and then stuck in a second needle that actually had the saline. So I don't know what is worse; multiple sticks of the needle (which to be truthful I did'nt feel) or feeling them swipe the needle back and forth. Hours later I had tendernes to the touch of the area where they hand twisted the needle here and there. Again, I did'nt really have any pain during the fill more of thought that twirling the needle around was not great for my insides. I guess though they are only twirling through fat so probably not that bad.
AmandaMatt 0 Posted September 24, 2010 My Dr did every fill I ever had and never missed once. No discomfort at all for fill. Maybe you didn't pick the right doc so sorry. mine was great no pain/"no gain" lol
Ocnlvr 1 Posted September 24, 2010 I went for my first fill last Thursday with my doctor, he was doing it under fluroscopy so he could see, (he likes to do this on the first fill) he couldn't get the needle in , he actually bent 3 or 4 of them, only to get a side view and my port had flipped upside down. I had a port revision yesterday, he did the fill while in there, he said this is unusaual but it does happen. Maybe, your doctor will be able to find it. Melissannde 41 Posted September 25, 2010 I'd ask if they have an ultrasound machine to help find the port. They had to use that on me for the first several fills.. I've lost enough now that it's not necessary. Best of luck on Monday.
Beachbunny 5 Posted September 25, 2010 Thanks for responding all. You could hear his nurse tapping on hard plastic , my biggest fear is that the port flipped. My husband is in the process this wednesday of being wined and dined for a new job. Im under alot of stress at my job , the girl i work with quit so im by myself so can't just take time off......calgon take me away!
Beachbunny 5 Posted September 25, 2010 I made the comment that if something is wrong id take the band out and go with bypass. The nurse then went and told him i wanted my money back.....not only did she lie...pissed me off . So my Dr called me and said He will do what ever he can for me , but if it doesn't work out he can give me 7 other Drs to go to. My confidence is now going down the dumper. FYI i was also emotional due to the fact i came down with a nasty fever after i got home and a irritated tummy.
ElfiePoo 109 Posted September 25, 2010 I'd make sure this doctor knows his nurse lied. If she does this enough, and enough patients tell him, she'll be history. Here's hoping your port hasn't flipped! Good luck on Monday. .
