For a 24 year old cashier at Camping World, this fee is killing me. I can't seem to wrap my mind around it. I had to be rushed to my doctors office because I had a panic attack yesterday. My heart was beating hard and fast, i was really shakey, and my nose started bleeding out of nowhere. I was terrified, I thought i was going to die. The doctor asked what I was stressing about, and this surgery is the only thing that has been running through my mind ever since my insurance approved.

I've researched different surgeons in my area, and im stuck on this guy. I know he's right for me, and all the feedback I have read has been positive. I just don't know how I'm going to do it. Im just barely building my credit, and the only money I have to my name is going to cover the $2000 deductible. ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!

i should start washing peoples cars in daisy duke shorts and raise some money. I dont know how far that would get me, but hey, my pearly whites (legs) need to get a tan anyway.

im done ranting, thanks for listening.

need your car washed? :DDDDD

Aww! I don't have much advice but I hope things get better. If you're into writing you can maybe look up a freelance job online? I made about 10k last year writing website content and such.

Just a suggestion. Keep your head up and hey, maybe a tan wouldn't be so bad.

Oh wow that's great! I wouldn't even know where to start to try and find an online job. Sounds amazing though.

Thanks for responding. I just really hope everything works out and I can start my new life!!

Your new life starts with every breath you take. Weight loss is just another step on the path. If stress over finances is so severe right now that it gives you panic attacks, you might need to rethink things. This particular path through life is challenging enough without feeling like a monster is sitting on your chest.

You could borrow the deductable from a bank and pay it back, thus helping you establish credit and allowing you to keep your $2000 savings in reserve. If you lose your job and can't make payments on the loan, you'll still have enough in savings to pay it off.

You could put surgery off a little longer and get a better financial reserve built up (I know, I know, but anything worth having is worth waiting and planning for).

You could bite the bullet, consider the $2000 an investment in your future and quit obsessing about it.

You could ask yourself if your choice of this surgeon as the only acceptable surgeon is emotionally based and consider whether a surgeon with a less expensive program is just as good.

Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck. Just keep in mind that this is just one more step in your life and not a whole new existence.

The first Dr I went to charges $7000.00 just for his up front fee! I came home and searched out another Dr that doesn't have a huge fee and he is much nicer and easier to talk to. He has a perfect surgery success rate. His fee is $1500.00. I would look for another Dr if it were me.

Hi, The surgeron that I am using offers financing through their practise. You can always talk to them and see if their office offers something like this for you. Best of Luck! I hope everything works out for you. Take Care

I would run not walk away from a surgeon who had a 4,500 program fee. Yes some includes fills but that's just outrageous!

mine required a $500.00 fee just to cover what insurance did not. I think that is because some have not paid in the past. I agree with many other comments plan it out. 200 a month is a savings account and bam u have your surgery. It is tough but worth it in the long run. I go for my surgery in 10 days and it has been a long road. This will all be worth it. Just wait till your pre-op diet this will seem like a piece of cake.. just kidding.. all the best

My fee was $300...I think you should rethink your surgeon. That's a helluva lot of money!

My doctor's office only charges $150 fee.

I would definitely find another one.

My surgeon's offices charges $3700 but once you add up the cost for all the fills and visits after the surgery, a 24 hour on call counselor, a gym membership, personal trainer, nutritionist, etc....I would rather pay for it all up front to get it done with and have the access of all those services. The personal trainer and gym alone would cost that after a year. Just my opinion.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
