I have finished all my test and submitted all my paperwork as of Sept 10, and found out that my doctor's office has not submitted my paperwork to the insurance company yet. UGH...REALLY? MY insurance company did not even require half the tests that the surgeon did. Not feeling the love.

I have been told that it can take up to 4 weeks to get approved and that my surgeon is booked out 4-6 weeks. That puts the big day in December....I work retail so December is out of the question. Any suggestions on how to light a fire under the doctors office? Now that I have done everything required, why shouldn't they be obligated to get my paperwork in a timely manner?

Just needed to vent.:)

Go to another doctor in your area.

You would think they would submit your paperwork when it was complete as a courtesy to you as a patient. You CHOSE to come to them, not the other way around.

I agree with Sabbah... call around to other surgeons and see if someone else can treat you a little better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
