abs crunch with a band?

Recommended Posts

Since I was banded I have only swum in my leisure centre and not used the gym part. That's because I am worried about using an abs crunch with the band. something like this:

You kind of bend over the bar, and it trains your abs. Would this be a risk for ripping the stitches? Note I am 7 months from my op.

there is no ab workout more intense than the p90x ab routine, and i do it just fine! This should be no problem at all for you

I suppose it - I was thinking i could still rip it all apart by accident.

Do you need to use a machine? Can you lie down on the floor and do regular crunches?

I do understand that some folks have trouble getting on the floor.. I've been there myself and still have issues when my knee is hurting..

I'd think at 7 months out you'd be OK for crunches.. start gentle and at low weights and work your way up slowly.

You could always consult your physician or ask a trainer who is familiar with banded folks.

I was cleared to use this machine (and do all exercise, without restriction) after my 4-week check.

I just hit 7 months out myself and was wondering the same thing. I keep passing by that machine at the gym but I just look! I am terrified my port will move or something!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
