September Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Hi Susan

I too was banded on the 23rd and yesterday was def not a good day for me too! I have so much gas pain.... and I can't decide if I should sip more Water, or less, or have the broth, or not...... I don't know! It hurts!

Hi again! Well, the gas is gone. But, that came at quite a cost for me! Last night, I was up all night with diarrhea. It was HORRIBLE! I have had a "bubbly" stomach all day. I was eating immodium like you would not believe! Anyways, it isn't so bad now. I am on day six of my liquids, and now I can go to full liquids. I am excited about the yogurt, blended Soups, and sugar free pudding!!

I hope you are feeling better, my friend. :smile2:

Well I got banded today. Was so emotional before I wanted to cry because all I wanted was a bagel! I think I was just overwhelmed. Recovery SUCKED!! I kept throwing up no matter what they gave me. Finally they gave me something really strong a little before I was going home and I went home and slept for 5 hours. A little uncomfortable now but nothing horrible. I'm a little hungry though, but not sure if it is just in my head. Anyway, so glad to have somewhere to go to just spill it to people who get it. Good luck to all!!!:smile2:

So I was feeling hungry and asked my nutritionist for a suggestion. She said I could do clear Protein. Oh by the way had surgery 9-28 on clear liguids until next Tuesday. So I added protein to my chicken broth which she said was fine and now I feel like my stomach is going to explode. My hunger did not get much better though. So now I am hungry and uncomfortable. Has anyone else experienced this? How is everyone else doing by the way? I hope well.

B)

I was banded on 9-21 so sore right now had no idea it would hurt this bad. I really wish i could get this gas pain to go away. I think i will know this is worth it when i see the weight loss. one of my incisions i think is real big will have to ask my doc about that.

I know this stage will pass and all will be well.

Mary:sad:

I was banded just yesterday and I'm extremely sore just as well. I have an awful gas pain that won't go away but I found out it's only air so hopefully it'll pass soon. And I have one incision that's bigger then all the others, it's in the middle part of my abdomen closest to the port. It looks awful and I'm quite embarrassed by it, hopefully once the swelling goes down and it starts to heal it won't look so bad. But I know what your going through pretty much down do the t. Best of luck to you! B)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
