Thanks Betsy....I know what you mean....after I did that, I told him I felt like a bulimic :-/

tntbelt - I've been trying to do that for the most part. During the day, for the kids, I've been doing that. Some nights I feed the kids before daddy comes home (on his really late nights) and I keep it simple and non-tempting. Then, he cooks for himself when he gets home.

On the nights I cook for the whole family, I try to do simple, non-tempting things....hamburger helper and stuff like that. I've never been a fan as I really love gourmet cooking. I never realized how much I cooked to taste until my poor husband said my cooking has really gone downhill since I stopped eating....because I couldn't taste and adjust LOL he was being funny about it, not rude

Hi there... I'm creative with my liquids...lol

My dietician mentioned I could have cream of chicken and cream of mushroom Soup of course it's needs to be low fat. I dilute with Water, the Soup is a little thicker so you fill up faster.

I also have sugar free Jello or a sugar free popscyle, sugar free Hawiian punch.. diet green tea.

If I feel weak, I drink a 1/4 cup of Protein drink. The EAS brand is really good especially the strawberry & vanilla.

I'm 10 days post-op and have lost 16lbs.. I don't feel hungry at all.. more thirsty..

Good luck with your journey... :)

Well done for spitting out!!!!! No harm done and you drank your broth guilt free. We all ended up in this place because we have a distorted view of food and have used it to meet some need other than hunger. It's going to take time to change the heart and mind but we all have been brave enough to take this HUGE STEP. With a prayer and song we'll get to our goal. Hmmm maybe singing as we cook would help!!! I occasionally feeling like grabbing my grandson's Peanut Butter sandwich and taking a huge bite.... i am still resisting and it's 3 days to go to soft foods. YAY!!!! Good luck to all of you. Des

Thanks for the EAS suggestion. Protein Shakes aren't the thing where I am (South Africa) but I'm aware of the value of it. Will give it a try - hope I can get a small sample tin.

I was banded on 9/10/10. I am 2 weeks post-op. I am to be on mushies, but don't know why. I have not had trouble eating anything. I had lasagna, salad, toast and sugarfree lemon pie last nite. I hope i didn't hurt anything. I am not sure why the mushies since I have not had a fill. at this rate I am afraid I will gain all the weight I have lost. HELP ANYONE???

I'm having a very similar experience in that I feel I could go ahead and eat anything but am scared. I did come across a post that said that if you have food that isn't liquid (can be drunk through a straw) your stomach will begin to churn and move (peristalsis) to digest and break down the food which can cause the band to slip. Also the new pouch can be stretched before we've begun. Remember the band is stitched into place so we have to keep the stomach as still as possible. If you hear anything more please post. I encourage you to stick to the mushies - presume that's what your doc told you to do. I don't think one feels the band slipping so perhaps we both need to be careful till 6 weeks is up. Good luck and keep trying - I;m walking the same journey with you.

I am so glad for the info. I had never heard that. It makes sense. I will be back on the mushies pronto. It was never explained why, and I knew I had no restriction. I guess this is why it is called bandster hell.

Hungry, can't eat real food, and no restriction. 1st fill 10/04, can't wait.

I'm so proud of you!!!! Well done for making an excellent choice for yourself. After all you gone through so much already - you DESERVE for this to work for you. I'm terrified I go in for my first fill only to be told by the doc that my band has slipped....eeeek! That thought keeps me in check and I don't want to go through surgery again. I have 4 weeks to go for my 1st fill - 16 October. Look forward to hearing about your one.

Thank you so much everyone... THIS is the support I needed...people going through the same thing and surviving it and being able to look back and say "I did it....so can you"

My surgeon has a very strict diet plan...more strict than any I've been reading about, and WAY more strict than even LapBand recommends. He says it is because they see more success when you do it his way.

I go in phases....some days I'm ok with the liquids, some days I'm crying while making food for the fam. What I have found...and this may be the most retarded thing ever, is that when I'm completely overwhelmed with a need for tasting something....I lick it. Or, I take a bite, chew it to get the taste and spit it out. Is that not the most pathetic thing you've ever heard?

My family got pizza the other day.... it was more than I could bear because it was one of my down days. I finally just took a bite, chewed it, and spit the bite out..... and you know what? I was satisfied. Was it a waste of a bite of pizza? lol yes... was it pathetic? yes...my husband looked at me like I was crazy. BUT...it was what I needed to be satisfied with my cup of broth.

I have the same doctor and was banded on 9/13/10.. i have to say i did the same thing today. I chewed up a piece of a chicken nugget and spit it out. But i got the flavor i needed. I called the ofc to tell them my stomach was growling, they told me everything is starting to work again and to drink some gatorade g3 with Protein. I cant wait to start full liquids next week. and definitely cant wait to have a little "real" food.< /p>

reading different things people say, i think we have the most strict doctor, but he gets good results. so im trying to be strong and remember that! but boy i would like a bite of something ;-)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
