I think that you look great. I think that those of us who are struggling need to remember where we've been, where we are now, and while we aren't where we want to be we are alot closer than we were.

I actually splurged on my lime green shirt from Nordstrom, and I LOVE it! I wasn't really looking for compliments though (well, yes I was, hahaha.)

My point to this post was due to all the recent freaking out over erosion with newbies deciding NOT to get the band after all the hell they read here. Even though I'm currently "considering" band removal, I still think the band worked for me. I have not decided to have the band removed, but I'm starting to work on other weight loss options.

So thanks for letting me toot my own horn and thanking my band for doing it's job.

I DO NOT have a port. I never really had a port, actually. My first port was infected before my original wounds healed, then my 2nd port only lasted one week before getting infected and removed.

If I had a port, hmmmm... one could only imagine.

Thanks for all the compliments. I never post ugly pics of myself, but trust me that they do exist! I'm more than happy to help people with makeovers. I LOVE doing makeovers. I could make any one of you just as pretty with a little makeup and hair. Just let me at you!

Terri, we need to start planning the bash more carefully so we can get it all in! I would LOVE to do makeovers at the bash! So you gotta show up really early next time.

Is it summer yet?

A-Hem.... scuze me for saying so, but is Santa bringing your hunky hubby a new shirt & tie for Xmas?

It's interesting how YOU look very different--younger in fact, while he hasn't even changed his CLOTHES!!

(evil grin)

I noticed he likes the black shirt and grey tie too, then again he looks mighty HOT!!!, no matter what he wears. You're both a wonderful looking couple. Thanks for sharing.

The weight you've lost without a port, omg, look out when ya get one.

OMG, if Chris knew someone caught him wearing the same thing he'd burn that suit! Truth is, he planned on going casual this year till the very last second. But when he saw me all dolled up he jumped in his suit and wondered if anyone would notice. I told him people don't pay attention to what men wear!

Well, usually not except when you put the dates on two pictures together!

Truth is if it didn't look so damn sexy and COOOOL I probably wouldn't have noticed. I bet he'd look cool in a deep purple shirt.

This was the first year we didn't dress to match. We normally plan our outfits but we flew back in from Texas in the afternoon and had to be to the party by 5:00 with a nice flat-tire-breakdown inbetween. Before we left for vaca I tried desperately to find a lime green or purple tie or shirt. Amazing - there are about 9 billion ties and shirts at the mall but not one electric green or purple one. Odd.

OMG, YES! Well, no to the "Johnny Cash" comment but all he wears is black and gray. He's got 100 black shirts, boring. It took me years to get him in a silver tie. He's afraid of change and color. Sad thing is he's got beautiful green/blue eyes so anything with those colors really snaps. Where's the number for Queer Eye for the Straight Guy?

Ya know what's funny? The guy next to Chris in the one pic is his friend, Craig, who is also wearing the same boring shirt as last year. At least Chris got a new boring tie!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
