mercedes 0 Posted December 12, 2005 I just got my 2nd fill 4 days ago. I now have 1.7 cc in my 4.cc band. I can still eat a smaller normal sized meal. Should I feel full after 1/2 c. of food (protein)? I am not losing. Infact I have only lost a total of 3-4 lbs since surgery. I lost 10 originally but have gained. I guess I'm going to have to go on a strict diet. I was hoping that this band would work better than this. I was hoping that I couldn't eat more than a 1/2 c. food comfortably. Maybe I just don't have enough of a fill. How should I feel when it's working right? Anybody else have over 2cc's in their 4cc band?
Anwyn 0 Posted December 12, 2005 I think the important thing here is to figure out whether your band isn't working because you don't have proper restriction, or whether you are sabotaging yourself. The first questions that popped into my head are: 1. Are you exercising? It's a must - especially when you only need to lose 40 lbs. 2. How many calories are you getting in a day? If you're not sure, try tracking it on fitday.com. If you are eating properly (i.e. Protein first, fruits and veggies, limited crap) and you are still getting in too many calories then consider another fill. There are plenty of people who need more than two fills to get proper restriction. If you aren't eating properly, then you need to change your diet. I'm sorry that you haven't had better success, but don't give up. Good luck!

Jachut 487 Posted December 12, 2005 It sounds to me like you need to track your calories, focus more on exercise and just hang on with all your willpower till you get that restriction level right. Even if you only restricted calories mildly till restriction set in you could lose a pound a week. You can do it, its probably the last time you will ever have to. mercedes 0 Posted December 12, 2005 One BIG problem is that I didn't ride the "wave" while it was there. I waited too too long to get that first fill. 3 whole months! And by that time I had gained back some because I felt (food wise) exactly like I did before I ever had surgery. So, a word from the now wise "me", after YOUR surgery, do not wait longer than the 6 weeks to get that first fill so that you can ride the weight loss wave as long as it will carry you. Tricia K. 0 Posted December 12, 2005 I was banded in mid-September and just got my 3rd fill last Tuesday. I now have 2.2cc in a 4cc band and my restriction level seems perfect. I wish you the best of luck!
Jachut 487 Posted December 13, 2005 Yes, I definitely feel a sense of maximising that early faster weight loss. I know it'll probably take me a year to lose between 30-40kg but early on, that first 20 I think is going to be faster and easier and I intend to maximise that.
