I don't think weighing yourself daily is the problem. It's what you do with that knowledge. If a pound (or 2 or 3) gained is cause for depression and setting your feet moving towards the fridge, then it's a problem. Otherwise, it's just information.

I get up every morning, go to the bathroom and then step on the scale in my nightie. If I've gained a pound or two, I'll mentally go over what I've eaten the previous few days. If the pounds gained make no sense, I figure it's just Water fluctuation and let it go. Generally within a day or two, I'll see a rapid drop of 4-5 pounds if this is true. If, by looking back, I realize it's because I've been sloppy in my eating, then I consciously make the decision to tighten up my eating habits. Again, within a few days the scales stabilize.

I don't stress about it. It's just a way of monitoring. My official weight loss day is Monday. That's the one I record.

Totally addicted - once in the am once before bed. Always 2 pounds lower in the am than I was the night before. I think of it as a good thing not bad. When I was gaining all my weight, I never stepped on a scale at all - now I am finding myself accountable. I just don't let it drive me crazy if I am up a bit, or the loss is slow that week.

N - what you are going through is totally normal. I just kept measuring my food at every meal. One and a half cups of food 3 times a day for meals and if necessary a half cup twice a day for a snack. It is TOTALLY a diet until you reach restriction. The thing that has helped me through it mentally is that I knew I wouldn't have to fight the "diet" fight forever. I had surgery 6 1/2 months ago and currently have 8cc in a 14cc band. It took me 5 1/2 months and 5 fills to get to real restriction. I started feeling a slight difference after my 3rd fill (7cc). As they say - it is bandster hell that you are going through. Until I started feeling restriction 4 months out, I never felt "full". I just kept plowing through and walking and have pretty steadily lost 2 pounds per week (after my quick drop while on the liquid/mushy stage diet). Good luck and reach out to me if you ever need any encouragement. The lapband has totally changed my life!

I have to admit I'm another person with the scale obsession! I weigh myself first thing in the morning just to make sure I'm maintaining or loosing weight if my weight creeps up a few lbs. I'm focused on getting the weight back off. I'm currently pre-op & I don't think this will change after surgery & I don't want it too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
