"diet" low fat, low sugar foods?

I just found a low sugar honey substitute and a low sugar apple butter, yum.

The honey is made by HoneyTree's it is called sugar free Imitation Honey, from Meijers.

1 tbsp has 50 calories and 17 carbs, from Malitol and sorbitol, taste just like the real thing and has the same texture too, very good.

The sugar free Apple Butter is by Walden Farms, also from Meijers, has no carbs, no calories and is made with Splenda, is it a bit thicker then traditional apple butter but on warm toast is about the same, also very good.

I also love Water Sensations, I got those at super Target and they are really good. They are little foil packets of liquid that flavors a 16 oz bottle of Water, taste like Prople to me. Also no calories and no sugar. They come in Strawberry-Kiwi, Mixed Berry(yum!), Orange, Lemon (yum!), Peach (yum!), and Grape. There is more information at www.watersensations.com

Mandy, my items are not new and exciting, like yours! I really enjoy the Crystal Light mix-ins for bottled Water. I like Lipton's Green tea packets, too. I LOVE Zone Perfect bars, better than the liquid shakes!

Cindy (see, I told you... nothing exciting!)

What are the Lipton Green tea packets? Are they sugar free? That sounds great, I didn't see those in the drink mix isle. ~Mandy

From experience...

Watch the sugar-free items with sorbitol, malitol and the like. They are called sugar alcohols, and your body does not digest them, thus they do not add to you like sugar...

unfortunately, they tend to pass through your colon rather vigorously, and can cause major gas and diarrhea when eaten in larger quantities (larger being the relative term).

I unfortunately speak from experience dealing with sugarfree candy and maple Syrup on low carb pancakes (it was sooo good I used a nice sized portion).

I am aware of thses issuses, thanks for reminding me though. My friend that had the GBP had one too many sugar free Russel Stover "turtles" and almost didn't make it home. I still pick on him about that day. I only have the reccomended serving size and only a few times per week. I don't want it to be an issuse. ~Mandy

Have you tried the Yoplait Nouriche Light yogurt smoothies? They only have 170 calories in 11oz, and 10g of protein! I have one for Breakfast every day. Dannon also makes one that is smaller in size, like 80 calories, and 6g of Protein. It's a good way to start my day!

Mandy thanks for the tip on the Water Sensations....that stuff is awesome!!! I have tried the Strawberry-Kiwi and Lemon so far. I seem to be having trouble finding the Peach. I will keep looking.

Water Sensations are on the website, but you have to pay shipping, which stinks, but at least they are on there. ~Mandy
