I just went to costco today and felt that I had died and gone to bariatric heaven. I picked up the following for my boring high protien diet..........

chicken Chipolte patties (just eat with cheese and salsa)

Turkey Meatloaf in marinara sauce

Chicken Spice Skewers

Shrimp in a lime/garlic/cilantro marinade

Chioban Greek Yogurt in a case

Pork in Verde Sauce (only 160 calories and 27 G of Protein for 5oz!!)

Blueberries

I feel so good and like I can make it without cheating again! Yummy high protein food.< /p>

You also forgot the PREMIER brand chocolate Protein shakes. 30g Protein, 1 g sugar, something like 160-180 calories. It runs around $24 for 18. I am 1 week Post Op and I like it along w/ the EAS Myoplex chocolate shake too ( also sold there ).

We don't have a costco where I live now, but I did enjoy shopping there when I lived in NY.

Sugar is something I have to pay close attention to since my boyfriend is a diabetic. I am finding with most prepared foods there will always be sugar but as long as we stay at 10 grams or less per serving his blood sugar isn't really affected.

I normally don't eat breakfast so for me breakfast is my Protein Drink, but I hear egg beaters are suppose to be really good for you.. Haven't tried them yet but I want too.

I also have a Sam's card as well as costco and I really haven't noticed a difference in price. We just also go to costco more cause its closer and I think they have a better selection of fresh foods and meats.

Oh yeah theuy also have Shrimp Scampi that you can eat without adding it to Pasta and Tilapia fillets in a citris garlic pesto marinade. Most of the things do noy have too much sugar and are low in calories. It adds some zest to the usual boring options we have in order to stay on target.

That's where we do most all our shopping. They have good produce, and I love the frozen cod. They have many organic and all natural foods. We also get our chicken and ground turkey there.

I have done a lot of my shopping there for a long time I make chicken Parmesan with their Foster Farms chicken strips. I put spagetti sauce in a baking dish add the chicken and more sauce bake it and add Mozzarella cheese at the end. It's delicious and very low fat, etc. I also only eat whole wheat Pasta. They also have great frozen salmon pieces which are great as they are all individually wrapped. I don't drink Protein Drinks as I get plenty of Protein in my diet. They sell Fiber One bars there which are much cheaper than the stores.

I made their turkey meatloaf for dinner tonight and my whole family ate it and loved it. I was happy to not make 2 meals for the family (one for me and one for them). I had 4 oz and it only had 200 calories and I am really full.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
