I was so afraid of trying salad, but I'm so glad I did, I've never pb'd on salad, it's my friendliest band food. I had the same fear, that it would be the most likely to get stuck, in my case, not. Take small bites and chew, chew, chew. Remember, lettuce is mostly Water.< /p>

Still on liquids but I will be very upset if I cant eat salad. Its would be very frustrating to not be able to eat foods that are good for me and still be able to eat crap. Never eating white bread again doesnt bother me but I actually love salads.

Funny, I had salad 2x and it went down fine. The next 2 times I could not eat it. Just recently the 5th time around I had shredded lettuce and it went down perfectly. I actually like the shredded lettuce better it was easier to chew.

I was worried about salad too, but I don't have any problem with it. I didn't eat much of it pre-banding but now I crave it with grilled chicken.< /p>

Hello,

This is my first post - just found this site. I was banded 1/23/03. weighed 392. I now weigh 240. I can share that salad has ALWAYS been very difficult to eat - except when I had no fill. Now, the lettuce is killer, even shredded. I can eat the veggies with LOTS of dressing. Hardly ever eat it, and I crave it all the time. One of my few disappointments with the band.

I am soooo right there with you!! I love Olive Garden Salad - it is the absolute bestttttttttt!!!!!!

I don't have any problems with salad but can usually only choke down 1 breadstick with a plate of salad - if I dip the breadstick in some dressing and take tiny bites of it I can get it down. Sometimes I miss being able to get full on breadsticks and salad but this is the only time I wish I didn't have the band cuz just one breadstick doesn't seem to do it justice - but I am thankful in the same respect because pre-banding I would have 4-5 breadsticks and 2 big plates of salad - now I have 1 med salad since it goes down pretty easy and 1 breadstick if I'm lucky. But Olive Garden is my favorite band friendly restaurant since its so easy to choose dinner.

I agree with you the dinner choices at Olive Garden are very lapband friendly I used to eat the chicken alfredo Pasta but since I can no longer eat pasta I get the chicken parmigana and instead of marinara sauce I have them put alfredo sauce on it. It is very good that way. Of course sometimes getting the waiter/waitress to understand what I want is the hard part...LOL

Oh yes the waiters/waitress's sometimes don't understand even little things like a side of dressing! They NEVER remember and I always have to ask for it twice, if I DO get a waiter to remember the first time I'm more likely to give a very generous tip.

I have to confess that I can actually eat an entire Wendy's taco salad. I have no idea why? It must weigh 5lbs and I looked on line and it has 600 calories! I have a lot of food issues and have a hard time with most things. Can't eat bread. Live on mostly Soups and salads. Chili, some tuna, some chicken (sometimes) it is hard. I can never eat before noon. Protein shakes are a regular. Whilest I am in confession.....I can also eat McFlurries and chocolate with great ease. Also nachos. Weird.

salad is wonderful for me. Never gets stuck.

P.S I am having major anxiety lately regarding my band due to all the horror stories on here. Its like I dont want to read but I cant help myself.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
