Hello! My surgery was two weeks ago yesterday. This morning, I am having some issues. I am having a lot of a bubbly feeling in my stomach, tightness in my chest, and I feel like my back needs to pop. I had a Protein Bar for Breakfast. This was actually the first meal that I was truly mindful of chewing well and waiting the minute between bites. I'm feeling very uncomfortable. Is it being stuck, or over-full, or is it just gassy residual from the actual procedure? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Are you supposed to be eating solids yet? Two weeks seems awfully early.

You're not stuck. You'd be sliming and wanting to puke if you were stuck. It sounds like you MIGHT have progressed too soon.

I know each doctor is different, so I'm only speaking based on what my doctor had for me as far as food progression goes. I couldn't imagine eating something solid after only two weeks. Your stomach is still healing from the surgery.

Thank you for your reply. My surgeon and my nutritionist both told me to start solids (steak, chicken, fish, etc.) yesterday. My nutritionist actually told me I could have the soft Protein Bars this past weekend and I have been eating them since Monday. I have had the concern that it is too early to start solids, but both of them were adamant that I could begin them yesterday.

I am thinking I just have a stomach issue and not a band issue. I went for a walk on my lunch break, and I feel a lot better. I am guessing that I will still have some gas problems off and on for awhile. I really think that is what was going on.

When I first started eating, I noticed certain foods didn't agree with my tummy. It seemed to take a good 6 wks for my stomach issues to settle down.

I would just be mindful of what you eat, and drink plenty of liquids.< /p>

i wasn't able to start even soft solids for 4 weeks after my surgery and was also specifically told not to eat any Protein bars for 8 weeks. my surgeon is defintiely cautious, but then i haven't had any problems (other than hunger).

Unfortunately biggest problem lap-band medical community has, is that there is no single standard advice for post-op dieting. Some says solid foods after 8 weeks (2 weeks Clear Liquids, 3 weeks smoothies, 3 weeks musshies), some says shorter with smoothies and some says eat when you feel like you can, etc, etc.

Anyways according to my surgeon who is the second person in the world who introduced lapband and first one in the Europe; its almost impossible with new stitching technics things to go wrong unless you had a double whooper meal from burger king, etc.

I am 4 weeks post op and I know what you feel. Realize that your band is tighter in the morning. So my advice is start your day with a juice. Make the band relax itself and open up a bit in its own time with liquids. You might have a smaller band like me and you might also have a tighter band. If I eat even mushies in the morning it will get stuck. I have to drink Water which will make it worse, and i have to scroll all around to make it go down slowly. Thanks god I dont vomit (thats the single dangerous behavior for us)

Also listen to your body. You must learn that your new life is different. food will stuck all the times if you eat more than a golf ball. So eating like before is a history for us. Try this, eat only 1/3 of the same bar and see if it gets stuck as well. If not that's your pouch size.

You must learn to live with that. For me most difficult thing is that I cant drink Water like before (non-stop a cold water from a bottle without a break). Now, even 4 weeks post-op, I need to drink water glass by glass. Thats my body and I have to learn to lose weight this way.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
