Can You Eat Subway Sandwiches After Lap Band Surgery ?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried having their bread toasted for their sandwiches? I would think that would make it easier to go down.

I won't be banded until Oct 13, so I can't speak to the effectiveness of this.

Yes. I found that toasting helps! That, and chewing. For some reason the "white" bread sticks together like a mofo, so I would suggest getting wheat or some other herb one. It's healthier than the processed white bread anyway. :)

Before I had my last fill, i could eat part of a 6 inch IF I took the top piece of bread off. But since my last appt I cannot tolerate ANY bread. I DO like their Soups though ( =

Having any sandwich made into a salad is a great option too!

I love subway myself and one thing I can suggest is to have them toast the bread and usually you can only eat about 2 to 3 inches of the sub. I don't understand why some people think that they have to give up everything to be successful, Ive lost 147 pounds and have not given up any of the foods I love. Bread can give you trouble but if you toast it and eat it slowly you should do just fine. I have found that I have more trouble with lettuce than bread so, it depends on each individual. Good Luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
