Can you feel your band?

Recommended Posts

:huh2:I'm being banded on Friday and now I'm wondering if I'll be able to feel it when I'm walking around or sitting or laying down to sleep or what have you.

I know I'll be able to palpate and feel the port from the outside, but what about form the inside while it's just sort of being there?

Thanks.

Vegastar that is such a great question! When I first got banded, I was thinking "how am I not going to feel this thing?" The truth is..I don't feel it at all. The only thing I can feel is the port under my skin when I palpate that area. Good luck on your weight loss journey!

That makes me feel so good. I'd live with it if I could feel it, but It's better to know that I might not.

Thank you!

No you won't feel the actual Band. You will probably feel the Port. In one way you will feel the Band is in Restriction... the sensation telling you to stop / slow down when you over-eat. In that way the Band is great.

Brian that is a good point! When I eat, I can feel the band if I don't chew the food well enough....you will definitely know it's there then! You'll get better and better at making sure you chew well enough so this doesnt happen!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
