What is happening to me?????????????

Recommended Posts

:confused:Ok, it has taken me a while to post on the boards.

surgery - 7/27

1st fill - 9/7

Since 2/2010 when I started the process for surgery, I have lost 27.4 lbs. Right now I am feeling very uneasy. I have had a pain in my chest for about 4 days. When I breathe in, it hurts and sometime I feel a burning in my chest and right now I feel a burning in my stomach. I have no clue what is happening, but I am scared.

I have to say that I am making this more complicated that it really is losing weight. I really am scared to eat. I have had a realtionship with fast food for a long time and I am lazy. I hate to cook and if I leave the cooking to my mother that lives with me, I am not going to get all that I need. Tonight she made fried fish and I ate it.

I dont plan my meals well as I am scared to eat, but also scared to lose weight also.

I just need someone to tell me if I am crazy or not. Give me a few meal plans and tell me what the heck is this pain and burning.

I want to be successful. I may just be scared of the success!

Wow Tab, I know what you are going through (kind of). I had surgery 09/10/10 and so far am just on Water, Soup, and occaisional sip of Protein shake.

I too have a huge fear of eating...and rekindling my relationship with fast food. I don't cook...and usually plan my day around when I can go out for food.

I take comfort in knowing that others have done it (many many others) and that we will lose the weight. I am down 8 pounds since surgery (4 days ago).

How did you do the first few weeks? I am not hungry at all...of course I salivate when I drive my McDonalds...but as for a real appetittie....zilch. Of course I do expect hunger to make an appearance after the swelling goes down...

I hope some bandsters can provide you (and me) with some good ideas for food.

After we go to solids...can we eat apples? I have been wanting an apple... :crying:

Good luck

Happy losing :)

Tab, please call you doctor and see what's up with that pain in your chest. I have no idea what it could be, but I'm sure your doctor can help. I was banded on 08/16/2010. I've always loved to eat and I still do. Now I just try to choose healthier options. I've fallen off the band wagon several times in past 28 days, (Yep already) I'm back on track and down 24 lbs since starting the pre-op diet. I totally understand what you mean when you say you don't like to cook, but you have to.

One piece of advice I can give it to start cooking your own meals. There are not alot of healthy Fast food options available unless you want to eat salads everyday, I know I don't. If you cook, you have much more variety in you food options, you can make the food healthier, you save money, the food tastes better than fast food and you can cook large amounts so that you always have food available when your hungry. There's nothing worse than being hungry and not having anything to eat.

There are some simple things that you can cook. Every morning I make scrambled eggs with "I can't Believe it's not Butter" spray. It's 0 calories, 0 fat, 0 carbs and unfortunately 0 Protein. I drink a Protein Isopure protein along with my eggs, for lunch I'll have whole wheat Pasta with the canned sauce and for dinner maybe a tuna salad. Very little cooking required with these meals.

Below is my typical grocery list

Grocery List

Eggs

I can't Believe It's not butter spray

Tuna Creations-Herb and Garlic-assorted flavors

Kroger-Carbmaster Yogurt

Muscle Milk

Isopure Protein powder

Skim Milk

Raw chicken Tenderloins

Hummus-Roasted Red Pepper

Carrots

salad

Grapes

Strawberries

Shrimp

Zattarains Shrimp and Crab Boil

Mixed Vegetables-Green Beans, broccoli

Crystal Light

Whole Wheat Pasta

Spaghetti Sauce

Hope this helps

Dear SaraMarie123 I got banded on Friday the 10th too!!

It's now Wednesday here, day 5 and am still getting shoulder pains.Plus my port hurts.

I'm eating everything through a straw and am sticking to small cups of food, such as pumpkin soup; Tomato Soup, up and go Breakfast drinks (this is Australian; not sure if you would know it but its a liquid breakfast that you can drink on the run); yoghourt blended with fruit and milk; coffee or chai tea.

Sometimes I'm starving, but I just sip something to ease the hunger.

The burning could be reflux...a sign of prolapse. Have you vomited or regurgitate much? Might want to have the Dr check it out for slippage.

Talome,

Straws can cause gas...try drinking your liquids without the straw. Also, the gas from surgery can last for several days. Feel better soon. Good luck with your band

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
