piperbaby 0 Posted December 11, 2005 What do you generally eat for breakfeast? I have been having oatmeal everyday but I was just banded 11/9. I cant imagine cooking up something before work and sending the kids off in the morning.
Desi80 1 Posted December 11, 2005 depends on how much time i have. I ALWAYS have a carnation instant Breakfast no matter what. When i have more time i will eat oatmeal bacon hash browns yogurt sometimes i'll just have a slice or two of turkey. Breakfast doesn't always have to be "breakfast" foods
Tricia K. 0 Posted December 11, 2005 For breakfast, I have one of the following: 1 scrambled egg w/cheese 8-16 oz. Protein shake (depending upon restriction level) 8 oz. yogurt 1 packet instant oatmeal
Jachut 487 Posted December 11, 2005 I'd either do oatmeal or fruit & yogurt in some form, or any other Cereal that goes down like bran or whatever I find I can eat. I like some carbs in the morning, I function better if I do and I've never eaten things like bacon and eggs as regular breakfast, its just not really common to have cooked breakfasts like that in Australia. A boiled or poached egg I might do though.
Butterfly07 0 Posted December 11, 2005 I usually go for an egg w/cheese and a small piece of sausage or 1 piece bacon. I generally can eat 3/4 of it. When I get bored with this, (I HATE eggs) I will eat oatmeal or even cream of wheat for one day. Has anyone tried fruit yet? I was banded 9/19 and am still afraid of things like oranges and apples. giveyouthemoon 4 Posted December 11, 2005 Ya seriously *have* to get some Protein first thing in the morning. It really sets you up for success for the whole day. So for brekky I usually have either eggs or some cottage cheese. It stays with me really well until lunchtime.
piercedqt78 658 Posted December 11, 2005 I have an instant oatmeal with some Protein mixed in in the microwave as I type. It is almost 11am here but I just got up, I have a sick little one and we actually managed to sleep in today. I will usually have a yogurt (protein added) I also make a hot chocolate (sugar free) and instead of adding Creamer to it, I add some vanilla protein mix, taste great and helps get the protien in each day. I have also made fruit smoothies with 2% milk or Soy milk and of course protein mix. I hate cottage cheese and I don't eat any kind of pork at all so normal breakfast foods can be hard for me. I also have/had high cholestrol, so eggs are a rare treat for me. I do keep a few eggs hard boiled in the fridge at all times as my dd and dh love them, my dd eats the whites and feeds the yolks to the cat, dh takes them to works for a late night snack when they are away from the main yard that he works in and there is no microwave or fridge. I struggle with real food in the mornings so I make really soupy oatmeal or I blend my yogurt with a small amount of 2% milk. I need a fill as by mid day I am able to eat more than I should and 2 hours later I am hungry again. I am going on the 16th for an adjustment. I guess breakfast will be protien shakes again for a while, when I am properly restricted that is all I can get down in the am. ~Mandy
Dutchgrl59 2 Posted December 11, 2005 Jacqui, How about hardboiling 6 eggs every sunday to eat throughout the week. And keep canned fruit in light Syrup in the refridgerator. They are quick. I like to keep luncheon meat on hand for quick Protein. A couple of slices and I feel better instantly. Do a recipe search on breakfast foods they might inspire you to invent something. Good Luck! NJChick 3 Posted December 11, 2005 I make those egg muffins and freeze them so my mornings are easy (I posted it in the food section). Oatmeal, bran cereal, english muffin. I have to have easy too or I'll skip breakfast lol.
tztmama 0 Posted December 11, 2005 If anyone remembers the Cambridge diet of the 80's, they have a powdered shake product that I use. It is still around all these years later and it is the only shake substance I can stick to because it tastes good. Three shakes provide all nutrients needed but since I love to eat, I have one shake in the morning and then regular food for the rest of the day.
Jachut 487 Posted December 11, 2005 Oh yes, I usually mix some Protein Powder in with the milk on my cereal or whatever and of course there's Protein in milk itself. I find it does stick with you much better and reduces the afternoon hungries if I do that. But I need my carbs/fibre too.
fee 0 Posted December 11, 2005 i have 2 boiled eggs
LSasha 0 Posted December 12, 2005 I usually have a slim fast optima shake
La_madam 20 Posted December 12, 2005 I never eat oatmeal for Breakfast for 2 reasons 1. It is mushy and it goes through the band quicker ( doesnt last long in the pouch) which will make me hungrier again sooner 2. It has zero Protein, it is all carbs and when I eat carbs in the morning..I'm hungry all day. Carbs for me just make me crave more carbs.
