I just found Boost glucose control shakes. I hate the taste of Protein Shakes and have tried many, ugh! I was desperate the other day and I have samples of Boost in my office, so I thought why not try it. I did and it tasted great, no aftertaste. But you need to get the glucose control ones because the regular has too many calories.

My Nut has Carnation Instant Breakfast sugar free as part of my pre-op and post-op liquid diet. I mix it with ff milk, ice and a 1/4 banana as per my Nut's instructions. It tastes good. Even my 3 year old will drink it.

However, my Nut did say that they are not considered my Protein shake post-op but one of the two mini-meals I can have in addition to the 4 Protein Shakes. She recommended Medifast, Pure Protein or Muscle Milk Light as the Protein Shake. Medifast is too expensive and not available except online. I am using Muscle Milk powder with Water and ice. The RTD Muscle Milk is a bit too sweet, but I can handle the powdered for some reason.

I am getting tired of sweet taste though. I don't really have a sweet tooth. I'll be so glad when I get banded next Monday, 11/29. Then it'll be a couple more weeks then I can have mushies.....the taste of savory!

The Atkins ones are good, but they only have 15g of Protein. The Myoplex lite shakes tastes good.

I use the premeire Protein Shakes from costco. They have chocolate flavored and I think they tast just like a chocolate shake. They are around $24 for a box of 18. They are spendy but they are good. They have 30 g of Protein.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
