I can’t eat anything other than mushy stuff...everything else I spit up...I follow all the rules, chew the food well, small bites, only one cup per meal...and no drinking right after eating...yet I spit up constantly...pasta, eggs, meats, etc.

I have only been filled three times and am at 4.5cc out of 10cc. My last fill was only half a cc. While I was at 4cc I was able to swallow and with some discomfort at times I could stomach most recommended foods. But since the extra half cc, I can’t eat any variety.

It’s like I am stuck in the second 24 hr after a fill - liquids and mushy stuff - and it’s been two weeks! I did loose 6lbs over this time - strangely eating mostly crab and ice-cream - since nothing else stays down.

I have an appointment tomorrow - with x-ray - as I am worried that my band slipped. I had made an appointment for last Friday but on Thursday things got better and I was able to eat some rice and chicken all day....so I canceled...but the next day I was spitting everything up again.

Is this normal? should I request that half cc be removed? am I doing something wrong? anyone experience this before?

I think you are a tad overfilled and maybe even 0.25 cc/ml removal will be wonderful for you. Mushies can get very high calorie so I am glad you are going for a small unfill.

Best wishes,

Mimi

You probably need a small unfill. I'd go back to your surgeon to have a tiny unfill; it doesn't have to be anything massive.

when you spit it back up, it causes swelling. once you have had this you need to not try to eat solids again for a couple of days, stick to liquids to allow the swelling to do down.

After a couple of days you should notice an improvement if it is due to swelling. If there is no improvement then you may need a teeny weeny un-fill.

The difference for me between being able to eat and struggling like hell was 0.25ml so your 0.5 would have made a difference. If you have been bringing stuff back for 2 weeks then you are going to be swollen.

Good luck with it.

It is a real big learning curve but this site is a very good resource.

I seem to be going thru a weird stage at the mo too, had some fill taken out 2-3 weeks ago, all good straight away but over the past 1.5 weeks I've started feeling stuck every single time (even with sips of fluid) - not to the point of PB'ing, just enough to be really uncomfortable & unable to eat or drink more than 2-3 tiny tiny sips. Then suddenly I'll be ok with a meal or 2 then it's all off for the next few days again. Someone told me she had the same issues but they settled themselves after about 6 weeks !!! I'm not hungry but worried about fluids.

OP, I had exactly the same thing hapenning to me... .25cc unfill made heck of a difference... I'm good now. Just ask your doc to remove .25 not the whole .5 otherwise you'll go back to where you were before your fill. Good luck.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
