This is driving me crazy!!!! I did such a great job after surgery. Then I got my first fill. That is when all this CRAP started. I was losing weight and feeling great. Anyway I got 2.5 cc's in my 4cc band. And we did the floro so we saw the Fluid going down fine. On my way home I noticed that I was having issues with belching, which before the fill it was the total opposite. I was belching like a frat boy on a saturday night. So once I got home 45 mins later I had a hot cup of tea. My chest felt really tight, and I was in serious pain. Gas pain I think. My stomach was seriously bloated. I took something to help me sleep and when I woke up I felt much better. But it felt like I had something stuck in my throat. And it felt like something going up and down in my throat. I was still able to eat food and drink Water. I did not have that much restriction. Well everyone convinced me that my band was too tight. I went back to the doctor one week later. He said that I had lost 8 lbs that week and he would take out 1 cc for me. He also said that the lump could be signs of acid reflux. Well I took every thing on the market for acid reflux and it has not helped. I called him last week and he gave me a prescription for "the little purple pill" nexium. I have been on it for about 4 days now. I still have my lump. THIS IS NOT RESTRICTION....... I can eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING..... I am not getting full at all. Does anyone know what this could be. And yes I am chewing very well and eating very slow......any ideas please ... he wont give me another fill untill we find out whats going on.

I'm no expert - but I would think that perhaps you should UNFILL a little. maybe back it down to 2.0 and see if that helps. ESPECIALLY if you were doing good and losing weight before you got your fill.

Pain is bad. Reflux is bad.

Just my two cents.

Remember, slow and steady is the PLAN with the band.

Take Care.

Oncewhen I was under extream stress I developed a spasm in my esophogus and needed a muscle relaxer for about a month. I did feel like I couldnt swallow. It sort of felt tight but more like I could not finish the swallow process, like the last half didnt work. Are you under a lot of stress?

Oh geeze Donna, this sounds awful. Is the doc sending you for any testing ?

I have no clue what it could be, sorry. I just wanted to wish you good luck and you'll be in my prayers. Please let us know what happens.

Hugs !!

IMO, that was a large fill, 2.5cc, I'm a year out and don't have that much in my band now. I'd be puking so much my band would be around my neck.

Man, I have no idea. You are now at 1.5 cc, but it is possible that you still have swelling from the 2.5 ccs That's my guess, is that you still have swelliing from that fill. I know that somepeople have swelling for a couple of weeks after a fill.

Give it another week or so, being very careful with your band. Don't push it, and eat to see what you can eat. (yes I know, human nature and all) I'm guilty of this myself. :P

2.5 cc fill is really huge for a first fill. I think you might still be feeling the after-effects of a too-aggressive first fill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
