5th week and you can do weights? Doc's making me wait 6

At this point I am doing the nautilus machines exclusively, no free weights, and very low weights...high reps.

I'm down 15 lb and am post-op one week and one day. I haven't gotten a fill, and won't for at least another month. I just hope that I keep up the pace that I've started with!

Congrats to you for losing so much so quickly!

I was having adequate progress then in May I started exercising on the Wii Fit. But in the beginning of July I joined a gym. (Haven't stepped into one in MANY years!) I was scared at first, but now have found that I enjoy it and I make the time to go. (That never happened in the past!) I'm focusing more on cardio at the moment, but I plan to do some light weights soon. As for eating, I usually have a Protein Bar in the early morning, something like string cheese for a late morning snack. Lately, I've been eating quinoa and soy chips for lunch. dinner usually consists of fish or a turkey burger. I think the important part is that I'm in a routine. If I deviate...I usually eat a bit more. I thank everyone on here for the support. Its been a tough 6 months....experienced my first kidney stone in May....ugh!! But I am feeling good now.

I am six months post op and I only have 2cc's in a 10cc band. I have lost 53 lbs. so far. I have so much restriction, the doctor doesn't understand why.

So glad to see there are people that lose without fills.

I have to say I do have 3mls baseline in My APS 10ml so its not empty.

I had a theory that certain people carry more fat around their inner organs and some have almost none.

It stands to reason that those with almost none who have adequate restriction, keep that restriction as not much changes in the area of the band... Just a theory.

Rach.

I'm down 90+ pounds with two fills, but I definitely needed those two. Congratulations on your success! Everyone reacts so different to the band and there's such a wide range. I guess it stands to reason that while some have a nearly impossible time reaching restriction, others get there really easily. Consider yourself lucky! And again, congratulations!

I think those who lose without a fill are the exception and yes, count your blessings!

I'm 10 months post op and have only lost 40 pounds and it has been a struggle. I've yet to find my sweet spot...that place where you have restriction without being too full. I had to have 2cc taken out (1 was just put back in after 7 weeks) because I was too full...or maybe just too filled too fast...and am working my way back slowly to find that sweet spot.

Congratulations on your loss, ladies!

I was banded 12/20/08 and am to goal with losing 90 pd with NO FILLS. I had surgery in Las Vegas by Dr. ATkinson and never had any problems and have steadily lost with a couple of plateaus, I think because of my age. I walk every day for exercise and swim all summer long. I love my band and have been maintaining for the last 9 months. I do fight head hunger every now and again, but that is something we will all have to live with. Congrats to everybody who never needed a fill and I don't feel like such an odd person anymore hearing from others with no fills. The band does work with and without fills, listen to your Dr. not all the expert opinions of some bandsters.

I was banded June 28, 2010 and my Doctor said the same thing as long as you are losing weight no need for a fill. I am grateful for that. Everything has gone well I feel restriction and no problems of things getting stuck, etc. Hope it continues and I don't ever need a fill.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
