zeniada 9 Posted September 10, 2010 Now that I am starting to eat mushy foods I am so paranoid that I'll "stretch" my pouch. Is it possible to do that or is it something that happens over time? 04948749-FFAB-E84C-90A7-1D94AFDDA05E 1.03.
trishfish 1 Posted September 10, 2010 well, naturally you are going to "stretch"...out stomachs wee made to give a little. but as far as over stretching just make sure you are measuring and weiging all your food for the first few months. when you start on solids really listen to your body! so you have 4 oz of foood on your plate but if you get full....STOP EATING!! its normal at the beginning to stress about the band inside of you, but over time, you will start understanding and knowing what your body is saying! vlp1968 83 Posted September 10, 2010 I keep meaning to ask the doc. about this. However, it's my understanding the stomach has lots of give to it. I think it would take lots of overeating for months to significanly stretch the pouch. Also, if you can eat lots at one time, you are probably loose enough that it is all going quickly to your big stomach.
ElfiePoo 109 Posted September 11, 2010 My surgeon has been doing this for a very long time and when I asked him about stretching the pouch, he said too many people worry needlessly about this. You'd have to seriously overeat every day for a very long time (he said 'years') before you'd stretch your pouch. He said if you were eating this way, you'd most likely have band erosion problems from the constant PB'ing, sliming and throwing up you'd be doing from not listening to your band *long* before you stretched your pouch.
