I'm leaving in about 15 minutes for my first fill. Everyone has said it is not as bad as you think, but I'm still really nervous. My stomach has been torn up this morning. I'll be so glad when this is over.

It isn't that bad really. My doctor had to poke around with the needle a bit to find the port hole I guess so it made it a little sore for the rest of the day but the next day was fine. I was really tight all the rest of the day too. I went in thinking Ugh! How am I going to do liquids all day? I couldn't have eaten that day had I wanted to! By the way, you were banded the day after me! I was at 254 on my surgery date though. I am at 238 right now. So we are pretty similar! Good luck fellow bandster!

Hey, I got my first fill today to!! It wasn't bad at all. My Dr. went in were the scar is so didn't feel it. He put in 4cc. Was going to put in 5-6 cc I told him I would feel more comfortable with 4cc, he said O.K. Told to do liquids for 2 days. I am bummed about that but will listen. I didn't listen to my stomache and threw up the extra chiken and veggies I ate. Not a pleasant experience!! I have lost 20 pounds. I am so happy. I haven't lost 20 pounds in years, And this time it will stay off:biggrin:. Good luck. Let me know how it went.

So to my surprise I found out that I had 3cc in my band from surgery. I had no idea, no wonder food was getting stuck. After we discussed me taking 20-25 minutes to eat he decided to take out a tiny bit. He didn't really tell me how much but did tell me to come back in 4 weeks instead of 6 to adjust again. I'm kind of disappointed because I was so ready to start getting fills and eventually finding my sweet spot. But before I thought I was working with a empty band so now I know I'm not and maybe my mind will assist me.

He did tell me to quit letting myself get hungry and waiting until the next meal time, eat when I feel hunger. I was drinking a V8 at work to tide me over until meal time, he said no more liquid calories, eat food when I need it.

Oh and the needle, it wasn't so bad he numbed me with something that prick was uncomfortable but I didn't feel the needle at all. The worst was him pressing down on my stomach around the port I was so sore when I left. I think I am a little swollen around the port and my scar is purple now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
