I'm a bit baffled, 50lb since April is great, 10lb a month is great, and 55 lb in a year is great!

Look at my avatar photo, so many people say to me, you look great, I hope I can end up looking like you. Well, how fast do you think I lost it? 2 years to lose 100lb. I lost 1lb or less a week. 1lb lost is 1lb lost, no matter how long it takes. I've kept that weight off for almost 3 years now. I couldnt give a fat rats ar*e how long it took to lose it. I was thrilled when every single pound disappeared.

This surgery is not magic and this slow steady weight loss is really a good way to come to terms with it all mentally as the physical changes occur. It can actually be very difficult to become a completely different looking person seemingly overnight.

Hi:thumbup:t the nail on the head as usual Jachut

Goodness, Relax sug. These feelings will pass, This has been said a million times but still holds true: Slow and steady wins the race!!!! It has taken me 2yrs to lose 102lbs. But I did it. I was one of those that thought it would never happen but it did so just follow the rules and keep your hands in the cart at all times because it's gonna be a bumpy ride, but well worth it. Lots of luck:smile:

One thing I'm sure you've seen on this site is that fast losers are The Exception.... Not the rule.

Dont compare. There's no point!!

.

Yep, what she said.

I totally understand where you are coming from I follow the rules 90% of the time and exercise 110% more than I used to and have only lost less than 50lbs since April.... its tough to see the huge numbers some are posting and to know that you are far behind- but as long as the scale is coming down then it and you are headed in the right direction! At my office there are two people who were banded several years ago a month apart- the slow loser (took 2 years) has kept the weight off- the fast loser is gaining it back....

Okay, wait. Some perspective is really, really needed here. 50 pounds in 5 months. 50 POUNDS IN FIVE MONTHS. C'mon--how is that disappointing? It's a rate that well exceeds the expected rate post-banding. And it's exceptional, if you've spent much of that time without adequate restriction.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
