What foods can't you eat?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what foods can't you eat after being banded?

My Dr. said steak, breads, nuts and pop corn are a no-no.

Pimento cheese. But I think it's because I always hated it even pre-Band. lol

Microwaved chicken. Don't do it. You'll pay for it.

That's the only issue I've had 5 months post op. I've tried spanish rice, very flat bread, and tortillas. All ok so far...until next fill.

The only thing I can't eat...right now (that can always change with the next fill!) is soft bread and dry meat. Anything else, I'm good with.

I am at 5ccs and I can't do sushi rolls - first of all, it is too big of a bite - and second, the seaweed isn't that friendly!!

Poultry breast meat doesn't go down well for me. Dark meat is fine.

Doughy breads are not a good choice for me, but drier breads are good.

Finger foods can be bad because I tend to take bites that are bigger than if I were eating with a knife and fork.

Hamburger, whether cooked loose or in a patty has caused me considerable trouble, also.

Sushi rolls are sometimes a problem for me, sometimes OK. I never know for sure. I have been known to pull them apart, which is quite messy!

Today is my first day on solids after my last fill, so I am not sure what the future holds.

Hamburger gives me issues. In the beginning eggs didn't like me but I can eat them now. Dry meat is a no no, has to be moist or I don't eat it. As much as I love bread it doesn't love me back....:)

I cook chicken in the crock pot and then chop it up in the food processor so that it is the consistency of like a bbq sandwich but smaller pieces. Then package it up in 1/2 cup containers so when I need it I can just pop it in the microwave. I've found that if you add some Water to the chicken before microwaving it makes it moist and doesn't taste/feel gross.

Doughy breads, dry solid meats (pork roast, chicken breast) if it's not super solid or involves sauce I can handle it, rice...rice does not like me unless I only eat like 2 grains.

popcorn and nuts have actually been staples of my diet since I was banded, the only time popcorn bothers me is if I scarf it by the handful (did it once, will never do it again).

Steak goes down very nicely in small bites, but sometimes hamburger won't. popcorn is no problem. Nuts are no problem. Raw veggies are no problem. Everything goes down fine if I just take small enough bites and chew it well. Moist is better.

Suddenly, since last fill I can not eat eggs! very annoying. I can do egg salad, but that is a real slider with the real mayo. Will not eat fake mayo.

Always trouble: Burgers, pork (deli ham is fine) doughy bread, white rice and Pasta. White meat.

Can eat a wet rice like a rice a roni flavored thing but must mush it in my mouth.

I haven't met a food yet that didn't agree with me!! That may be part of my problem! LOL! I can eat any and everything, but I haven't tried white bread yet because I am scared too but I bet it's like everything else. I don't eat pork because it takes longer to eat, but if I mix it with the other food on my plate that breaks it down, but I don't have time for all of that so I just gave it up. As of today I am at 5.5cc's and haven't felt much restriction since my band date of 2.23.10.

My doctor didn't ban me from eating anything, just recommended higher Protein, lower carb, and to avoid depending on slider foods. I've been able to tolerate pretty much everything depending on the "mood" of my band. I can't eat much if anything in the morning, and sometimes I'm inexplicably tight, other times I can eat a lot of everything. I usually have to be careful about any kind of bread, unusually tough meat (though beef Jerky is fine???), and eggs. Pretty much any kind of cooking method works fine for me.

I can really eat anything if I want it enough, but some foods are very difficult. My worst are

bananas

fresh or canned fruit (other than a peeled and sliced apple), I eat most fruit blended into a smoothie

fruit juice - HOW can juice block me up? I dont know, but it does

I can eat bread absolutely no problem, only just not with Soup, it must absorb the liquid. meat doesnt bother me, red or white although pork is a little difficult.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
