felling restricted yet not losing?

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I was banded on 5/10/10. I have already lost 55 lbs. total. My las fill was a month ago. Still feel restricted and tight. food intake certainly did not increase. Yet for the last 2 weeks did not lose any weight. Is it time for a fill even though I feel very tight? Currently at 4.5ccs. Thanx

In my opinion, it sounds like you've just hit a plateau....don't worry about it too much.

I know its impossible to know exactly, but how long can it last?

Wow!! 55 pounds since May is awesome. If you're feeling plenty tight now, please think twice before getting a fill. Maybe read some of the posts of people who are over filled, it's extremely uncomfortable and in the end it seems the wrong foods are chosen, just to get something down.

You're doing great. Losing a bit slower is the healthier way to do it anyway (so they say!). And your skin needs time to shrink too.

Congrats on what you've done so far. Sharon

Please do not get a fill, yet. Being overfilled is miserable and does indeed lead to consuming high calorie slider food. And sometimes significant heartburn, reflux, and stomach burning feeling.

If you're feeling well-restricted, I, too would avoid a fill.

It sounds as though you're doing the right things. Sometimes the body just needs a breather to regroup.

Plateaus can be persistent, but they always end. Do make sure you're doing the things you need to do to promote loss---at some point, you might need to reassess caloric intake (because needs go down as you lose), but it's probably premature for that.

Hang in there! If you're concerned, journal your intake and exercise someplace like Fitday so you can identify if anything warrants tweaking. But chances are, just riding it out will do the trick

I strongly recommend NOT GETTING A FILL!!!! I had surgery in 12/09. By 04/10 I was filled with 6cc. I had a horrible experience being overfilled which resulted in almost all of the solution being removed from my band. I had to start over. It has been an uphill battle but I am now back up to 5.2cc. I am due to get a fill this week, but I am still a little afraid.

Please be careful. YOU DO NOT WANT TO START

OVER!!!! :rolleyes2::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:

As a result, I've actually gained a little due to eating the "easier" stuff. I am back on Protein Shakes tomorrow. Good Luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
