I am watching Fox and getting upset as usual! Why is Jason Altmire a dem? He's saying he wants to extend all Bush tax cuts permanently. He said he did not vote for Pelosi and will not vote for her in the future. The host actually told him he sounded like a rep. and he said thats how he feels. The reason Im so upset is he's in my area!

I was watching Fareed Zakaria on Sunday. There was a guy on there(rep) who said we need a war to get out of this economic downfall!

Fareed laughed and told him "I guess Iraq and Afghanistan arent enough." He said they arent enough that usually after a depression there is a war which helps to get out of depression. Again, another idiot who has never had to go to war and kill people! Why not get more of our peolpe killed and F'ed up for money! Unfortunately after waking up this morning and hearing about the Koreas he might get his wish. Already the stockmarket is down 100 plus because of the fear its causing!

It just pisses me off how willing reps are to send everyone elses children off to be killed knowing that their children will be safe!

I hate this new format. It wouldn't let me sign in with my username and password. I had to re-register with another email address and now it has me down as a newbie. Yeah, right. Anyone else have this problem? I posted a question to the administrators on the forum but they are not receiving PM's.

Despite the elected republicans yapping about how they "heard" the american people about deficit and spending - turns out they weren't really listening because that doesn't come close to being their top concern:. Funny thing, here's what the voters are most concerned with:

Cleos, read the trib page a-5, its about healthcare.

A majority of Americans want congress to keep the new healthcare law and even expand it despite rep claims that they have a mandate from the people to kill it. The post election survey(Mcclatchy Newspaper Marist Poll) showed that 51% of reg voters want to keep the law or change it to do more while 41% want tom change it to do less or even repeal it.

The survey also showed that a majority of Americans side with the dems on another hot-button issue, extending the Bush tax cuts for families making less than $250,000.00 a year only.

Dont ask rule, 47% favoring repeal, 48% opposing repeal.

Healthcare

Of the 51% in favor 16% want it to stay the same while 35% want it to do more.

Expand---women, minorities and people youger than 45, democrats, liberals, northeasterners, and those making less than $50,000.00 a year.

Against

11% want to amend it to rein it in

33% want to rein it in

men, whites, over 45, making over 50k, cons, rep, teabags.

Independents are even

against, 36% for repealing and 12% for restraining it

Of the 48% of ind. for, 12% want to restrain while 34% want to leave as is.

I saw this information on Huffington Post.

Did you have any sign in problems? It must just be me. I PM-ed Alex but it hasn't been solved. I'm afraid to turn off my computer as I might not be able to sign back in. I had to re-register with a different email address to log in.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
