Hummingbird! I just saw your ticker!!! You're 5 lbs. from goal, WOW!! I don't mean to highjack the rants thread, but WOW that's fantastic! Good job!

Thanks! I just dropped into the "normal" BMI range and assume that means I have lost 100% of my excess weight.

I still have 9 pounds to take off to meet my personal goal, but it feels great to have made it this far!:huh2:

Before I leave, to set the record straight my PM to Bjean is as follows: "I get the reason now for your unwarranted bitching and moaning. You are a right-wing conservative who thinks they know everything. Enough said." No where in my message did I call Bjean ignorant. Please get your facts straight before you misquote someone.

Bjean, Were you elected to be the resident "right-wing conservative" once Patty left? Or did I miss something? Flip flop maybe?:huh2:

I didn't use quote marks when I was relating your post on PM. But you're quite right. The word "bitching" was yours. Mine was "ignorant."

And as for getting the facts straight, I don't believe you have actually come out yet. Are you a Democrat, a Republican, or what? It makes sense for you to explain yourself since you're the one, from the outset of this little exchange, who was bitching.

I'm about 13 lbs to goal and I'm excited too. I don't know if I will even have a great BMI when I reach it, but the doc says it's the correct goal weight for me. Maybe one day I will be like kartman and get my percentage of fat down below 15%.

You're awesome for getting the job done! And for sure you feel great - both physically and mentally.

Yeah, right. This entire thing is very confusing. Right out of left (right?) field. It didn't make much sense in the beginning and it gets even odder as time goes on. :huh2:

This is about healthcare and those who oppose the healthcare reform because you say you don't want the government controlling healthcare or the government to come between you and your healthcare.

Well, I just came back from seeing the PA in my PCP's office because of my chronic back pain and conditions (spinal stenosis, buldging and herniated disks, etc..) because of recent flair up of problems.

In the past they would have been able to order an MRI.

Not now. Why?

BECAUSE THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS COMING BETWEEN THEM AND THEIR PATIENT CARE.

THAT'S RIGHT THE INSURANCE COMPANY.

The PA told me they can't even get a CT scan or MRI for a cancer patient. The insurance companies won't approve them. In order to order these tests, they must send the patient to a specialist who can then order the test, but the PCP can't.

What do you think THIS is adding to the cost of our healthcare? The extra time and step of having to go to a specialist? Of course when the insurance companies raise your premiums they'll be sure to blame Obama and the healthcare reform.

I said to the PA that people say "I don't want the government to come between me and my healthcare" and she said , yes, I wish the government would.

So, here is someone in the medical profession who wants the government to reign in the insurance companies.

WOW. I certainly second that.

I'll bet just about everyone who comes to Lap Band Talk has a similar story to tell about insurance companies controlling their health care. I've told mine more than once. And I've lived in Canada, one of the countries that has a system that so many Americans scoff at and fear. It was 15 years ago and it was better than what we have - even with their problems.

People fear universal type health care for all Americans because they think it's going to cost them more money. The insurance companies love that because they are making countless billions on us believing the fallacies and blown out of proportion negatives about health care reform.

Isn't that amazing? Mostly they have no experience with health care in other countries, but they cling to the idea that we have the best system in the world anyway. With all our own personal negative experiences coming out of the insurance run health care industry in America, we still fight change....

Interestingly, if you ask specificially what they're afraid of with this administration's health care plan, they recite the things they've heard that are generated by the insurance and pharmacutical lobbies, like robots.

Evidently you dont or didnt read enough. Bjean and Cleosmom are far from right wing. If you would have read a little(actually you read something, I dont know what gave you that impression.) you probably would agree with what they say. Cleos mom campaigns for dems. I dont know any righties who would do that! Also even if they where right wingers, what would be the problem with them expressing their opinions? So even though their ideas are probably the same as yours, if you would have read more posts from them you would have found that out. But you did get angry because you thought their ideas differed from yours not because this topic isnt about lapband! Im assuming your a lefty because you called them right wing conservatives. If you would have easily figured this out you probably would have had a few more friends to chat with, instead you chose to complain about things just because you could!

I know this isnt on the subject but this just cracks me up.

Peoria Illinois Caterpillar Corp. reported 792 million in sales during the 3rd quarter of 2010! A gain of 96% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2009! They doubled revenue in Latin America, Theyre up 55% in North America, 51% in Asia and 31% in Europe, Africa and the middle east!

Werent they the ones crying about how much money they were going to lose because of "Obama Care"? What a joke, lets all vote reublican again so we can support these liars, big corporations!

We've all heard stories about Pharmaceutical companies paying people off when they come up with ideas for cures for different diseases etc. We've all also heard of stories of oil companies paying people off for inventing ideas to make cars super fuel efficient(I know someone personally this happened to involving oil, gas!) Why cant everyone see they arent concerned about these ideas even though they "raise" money to put towards ideas? Theres no money in cures!!!! So lets keep supporting these big companies!

Then you hear Hannity say how these big corporations arent going to hire workers when Obamacare kicks in or when Obama taxes the rich. Come on people they arent hireing now either so lets tax the rich people who wont be hurt as much as the middle class have and will continue to be until theres change!

What will hurt more 10-15000 dollars a year for someone who makes $50,000.00 0r up to $100,000 for someone making a couple million a year!

I heard Beck laughing while saying "Harry Reid, yah hes just one of us!" The actual funny part is Beck thinks he is "one of us" average Americans! Unfortunately for me, the only thing I have in common with Beck is we're Americans!(I dont mean unfortunately because Im American, I mean unfortunately I dont make 23+million dollars a year like Beck does)!

Im preaching to the choir here I think everyone who posts here is dem.

Corporate America is sitting on 2 trillion dollars in assets and their profits are up but they won't hire. Why should they? They are making their existing workforce work more hours and longer weeks. And these people can't complain lest they get fired.

Corporate America won't be satisfied until they pay no taxes, don't have to provide healthcare for their employees and have no regulations.

People shouldn't be anti-government they should be anti-corporate America and the influence they have on our government. That is the problem. Think about it. It isn't the government that pollutes our air or Water. It isn't the government that makes our work place unsafe. It isn't the government that hides profits in offshore accounts. It isn't the government that ships our jobs overseas. It isn't the government that makes unsafe drugs or food. It isn't the government that tries to bust unions. It isn't the government that is trying to buy our elections.

But the conservative media just keeps beating that anti-government/anti-tax message over and over again. We actually pay lower federal taxes than most industrialized nation and lower federal taxes under Obama. But you just can't reason with stupid, uninformed people.

Rachel Maddow was up in Alaska interviewing pro-Miller people asking them why they support Miller. They said it's because Eric Holder is anti-gun. When asked to explain how - they couldn't answer. They just knew. It's like those who interviewed teabaggers with signs at protests and they couldn't explain what their signs said.

Stupid, uniformed people - and they vote.

The right wing is using violence to suppress opposition:

This from Rand Paul's event:

I just argued loudly on the phone with Rand Paul's campaign office

Wed Oct 27, 2010 at 10:32:36 AM PDT

I just got off the phone with one of Rand Paul's campaign staffers. Rand Paul is a vile, degenerate sociopath. But I had a few things to get off my chest.

  • So disgusted am I at Paul's supporters and their violent, Gestapo-like, and completely misogynistic behavior, I just called Paul's campaign headquarters to express my disapproval. I recommend others do so.

The number is 859-817-1462

A guy with a Southern accent picked up, and I said, immediately, my name is Tom and I am calling because I was physically sickened by what I saw on the news.

Immediately, the staffer tried to (a.) downplay the incident and (b.) blame the victim.

Basically, he referred to Lauren Valle, the victim of Rand Paul supporter mob violence as a "convicted felon" who has been showing up at (i.e., "stalking") Paul events. I replied that that is irrelevant and that that is her right.

He said that she can "take a punch," and aghast at such a comment, I said that that is itself a sickening comment.

And then, this loon, amazingly, started comparing her to Squeaky Fromme, the former Manson Family member and would be political assassin.

I was flabbergasted by such a comparison!

In trying to get the Paul people to fully own up to what happened, I kept getting lies and excuses by this pathetic Paul supporter.

The conversation got much more heated. I wound up telling the guy that I thought that he was full of shit and that Rand Paul is vile.

We then sort of went back and forth for about 20-30 seconds, where we were both trying to grab the floor so as to say what we each wanted to say.

When I finally moved to saying that it was not just one assaulter but a whole group of them, and that Rand Paul is doing a disservice to the truth with his false equivalencies, the guy cut me off, saying something like "get over it Pal" and then hung up.

Rand Paul is despicable. However, I think that I did learn a thing or two from this call. Hearing a non-violent political activist being compared to a psychotic member of the Manson Family tells me just how far removed from reality Rand Paul and his hardcore supporters really are. And hearing a male staffer referring to a 24 year old woman who deserves to "take a punch" (not to mention a concussion inducing headstomp) ought, in a saner society, to delegitimize the political campaign that allows for such references to be made.

Anyway, I encourage people to call this number and speak out against political thuggery.

dailykos

AND

Add to this that Joe Miller, the teabagger darling of Alaska, had thugs who traveled with him and who put handcuffs on a reporter trying to get Miller to answer questions. And these are the people we should elect more of?

teabaggers interviewed about their protests

I dont have time to watch any more, I gotta work but I watched literally about 20 seconds and already I saw hypocrisy, bigotry, racism and scaremongering! Im sure the video is probably condensed for this purpose but still! Isnt it funny how none of the republicans share the same views as the people supporting and voting for them! Now in all fairness I didnt see the video posted by Ariscuss, Ill check it out later.

Have a good day.

1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
