Hello Everyone

I am having surgery one week from tomorrow!!!!

I am trying to find Vitamins and I would like to know which brand you recommend - also do you prefer liquid or chewables?

Your doc should tell you what you will need - I think a lot of us did Flintstone chewables in the beginning - I do Lapband Chewables - I get them from my doc or online (bariatric choice - or bariatric advantage)

I can take small pills - but a big Vitamin nope - it will depend on your restriction

My doctor said pills about the size of an Advil or a Children's Tylenol (i.e. small) are fine, but to request chewable, liquid or safe to break open when getting prescriptions... you will have to remember to tell your Dr every time you get a prescription... you don't want to get the horse-sized pills and be SOL...

As for Vitamins, I'm going to start with the Flintstones Chewabales at first because they tend to be a bit cheaper, I liked them as a kid, and it's just plain fun. I saw Vitamin Shoppe or GNS has gummy vitamins (Multi, D, B, C) that weren't too expensive and could be fine... but I don't like chewing Gummy things... and i'd be hesitant to swallow whole because they just seem so indestructible.

For B-Complex a lot of places have the "dots" which dissolve partially under your tongue without taste... would be great to know if the other vitamins have similar options.

I use the Princess gummy vitamins from Walmart....not too expensive and there are usually $1 off coupons to be had. LOL

I can swallow most pills - the only one I had any trouble with was my allegra-D as it is a larger one...but regular sized capsules I have never had any problem with. I think it might vary on your restriction, tho.

Hi, my doc gave me(sold, actually) me pre-surgery Vitamins that were just swallowable, and post-surgery vits that are chewable (and awful). Any 'normal' meds you take that are small and/or crushable you should be ok with, like my blood pressure meds are really tiny and I am doing those fine. I will be looking for substitutes for the 'big' pills like glucosamine etc... it's on my radar for the next weekor so, I'm just 1 week post-surgery. But yes you should lbe able to take pills again, depending on size and/or crushability.

Amy I am too and I am panicking!

My dr. gave me a prescription also for lortab tablets and phenergan tablets.

I trust my dr but some of these pills are like horse pills - am I really going to be able to take these?

Surgery is tomorrow and I am asking again before they take me back.

I'm now 6+ weeks since surgery and don't seem to have any problem swallowing pills (and I've got some horse pills).

Did you start taking them right after surgery (that night / next day)

That makes me feel better!

I was able to take the meds the first day, the only thing was that I had to take them a couple at a time instead of all at once like normal. I also take metformin and it wasn't (and still isnt) an issue.

:rolleyes2:My doctor told me to use Flinstones chewables. No gummies. And Viactiv Calcium chewables. I also have to take Vitamin B12 pills, but only cause my b12 is low. I had to crush pills for a week. I swallow them now no problem. Just one at a time. I haven't had a fill yet though. It may be more difficult then .

Depends on your doc but my doc is not a fan of wasting money on high dollar viatamins. he said you dont need the bariatric Vitamins b/c its not gastirc bypass. I take Centrum adult chewables and they work just fine. costs 10bucks at Walmart. those bariatric vitamins cost bout 30 bucks for 1 month supply

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
