Question-Don't Understand

Recommended Posts

I went for a fill on Monday and I was told that I had 5.5ccs in my band. The fill FNP told me that when she took out what was in the band, all of it never comes out. She said that 1-1.5 ccs could not be pulled out so it is hard to get an accurate amount of ccs in the band. Okay according to what I kept up with for my 4 fills, I should have 7-7.5ccs in the band. She told me Monday, it was more like 6-6.5ccs. That concerns me. My doctor and the fill FNP (I see them alternately for fills) tell me not to worry about how much is in my band. I just want to be informed so that I know exactly where my sweet spot is and what I'm working with. My insurance paid 80% of everything, but my 20% was no small feat. Has anyone else had this happen.

Yep. I went for a fill last Tuesday. My record said I had 4cc. I thought I had 5.5cc. The NP loaded the syringe with .25cc and pulled all the Fluid out. With the .25cc and all she could get there was 6cc. Plus whatever she could not get.

We looked at eachother and shrugged. She corrected my record to 6cc and moved on.

To me the actual amount in the band is not important. It is how I feel that is important.

I have decent restriction, I can eat most foods without negative events unless I do something stupid, and I am down 70 pounds.

It's all good.

Your sweet spot is not a fixed amount of Fluid. It is the feeling that comes with it. The amount of fluid needed to achieve that feeling will keep changing as you lose weight.

I have definitely read them and am thankful for all the input. I really wanted to know if that was common and how I should handle it. To me, it should be my right to know what's in my band. I am not at restriction and have a little way to go to get there. However, I do want to know where I stand. As time goes on, it may not be important to me, but it is right now. Thanks to all of you that responded.

I think you mainly want to be sure that you don't have a leak. I have read that some Fluid loss over time can occur, but if you are losing large amounts of Fluid, you could have a problem with the tubing.

But, if you haven't experienced a massive loss of restriction, I'd not be overly concerned.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
