Let us also realize that its a very confusion world. For instance before my operation, my doc said (day before) go and have a nice meal. When I told him about the liver shrinking diet he prescribed, he told me that it was more to do with preparing us post-op than the liver.

Reading this forum gave me similar thoughts. Each doctor says something different and its confusing somehow. Some people here could start mushes after a week and than to solid food, some people could start after 3 weeks than directly to solid food.< /p>

Its a challenge to find the "right" information with scientific evidence.

I am 5 dayd post op and I had a little cheat last night. I had taken my pain medication (so I was a little out of it) and ate a little kettle popcorn! I scared myself so much that I don't think I will cheat again! I am able to keep liquids down (haven't vomited at all) but I was really bloated which I guess could be from surgery! Anyone else cheat with popcorn? Thanks!

I was always scared to eat what was not on my post op progression diet. I might have ate an extra bit of Jello, yougurt etc but I couldn't even fathom eating a sandwich. I am 6mos post op and cannot eat bread at all.

I hope you learned why the diet is a progressive one and I would call your doc to see if you need to be seen. I would go back to mushies and liquids for now if I were you.

I hope you feel better and take it one week at a time!

I have NO CLUE how you ate a sandwich.

I am (7) months out and still can't eat bread because it gets stuck everytime.

i am happy that you put this up here. because i also cheated some today. i am supposed to be on pureed foods but i ate a small amount of eggs soft potatoes and whole wheat toast. i chewed well and ate slowly and have had no problems but i feel like a failure:sad:

Don't feel so bad...I have been cheating also and I had my surgery Aug 30 a week ago today. I feel just like you. I told my sister today that I will be the only obese person with a lap band in the world. I guess I just won't let it work:cursing:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
