Post Op Hair Loss Question

Recommended Posts

Anyone have recommendations for a Biotin supplement for Hair loss that is tolerable? I bought some; a skin, hair nails supplement-and they are huge pills which I have to cut into 3's which means I have to take 6. They are sooo gross. Anyone who has taken huge prenatals knows what I mean. I can almost taste them all day and gag on them from the smell.

I have super thick hair and the qty falling out is alarming. I know it will stop, but I also want to keep it healthy.

I've been using a Biotin Shampoo that seems to be helping a bit, but in the end it's going to run its course. I know some companies do make chewable biotin.

You may want to check out Puritan's Pride. The biotin they sell is pretty small if you buy the tablets.

Hope this helps.

I brought Biotin pills from Walmart and they are small. I have no probelm swallowing them. I am afraid of big pills though, becasue they will get stuck... so I try to stay away from them..

I take the Solaray B-Complex chewable in strawberry-kiwi flavor which I think tastes pretty good and has 300 mcg of Biotin which is 100% daily value per day in one chewable tab. It is not very expensive and I just order it online. I have also started using Nioxin Shampoo and conditioner. I am not sure ant of this has helped yet but at least I feel like I am doing something. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
