Hello all. I had my surgery April 27, 2009. All was going well and I lost 60lbs until exactly one year ago. In August 2009 I received a fill and within a couple of days I was closed up and had to have some removed. This continued until March of this year when I had to have my gallbladder removed. Had a couple of fills all was well until last month when I closed up again. Too much was in my fill. My doctor removed it all and now I have gained 25lbs. I am so bummed out! I still have high hopes that my doctor will pay closer attention and listen to me when I tell him I think there's too much.

Has anyone out there experienced this or am I truely special????

Hi,

Well, you are truly special, but not for the reason you think. Unfortunately I don't have any experience to share, but I did want to say that I hope your doctor will listen to you, too. And even though you've gained 25 pounds, you're still 35 pounds lighter than before you banded. That's the way I talk to myself because I'm not losing as quickly as so many here.

I know it's not easy, but please hang in there. Can you ask your doctor how much is being put in to your band? Maybe suggest not quite as much?

Good luck and keep posting.

Debbie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
