Belly Button Issue

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a problem with their belly button???

I had an issue with mine since surgery and losing the weight my belly button closes up so it is infected. I went to the family doctor and she sent me to toher doctors, which I ended up at a plastic surgeon. Two things they could have done.

1. Tummy Tuck

2. cut along the belly button and open it up

well of course INS would not pay for it. Saying not medical. It is medical if I wanted plastic surgery I would have had it after my third child was born and she is 22 years old. it has to do with my belly button and an infection.

Ugh this drives me nuts. I have to keep going back and forth with the doctors until they approve this.

What a pain in the butt. I just don't know what else to do.

Anyone having any issue's like this

Before my TT my belly button was like a closed book (From a previous surgery for a Hernia I have like 2/3 of a belly button left maybe 1/2) It was hard to keep clean because it was so small etc.

My TT on Aug 12th brought to light the fact that I was left from one of my two hernia surgeries (No1 i think) with a ''Free Floating Belly Button'' Meaning that some eejit surgeon CUT the stalk of my Belly button leaving it without its blood supply stalk - I am still praying the belly button survives as there is a good chance I will lose it because of it's lack of Blood supply.

I would say that an Infected Bely Button IS a medical thing In my opinion as the Umbilicus has a bloody suply that leads to the whole body (I mean when you were in your mothers womb it was your entire link to life being the place all nutrition came through) I really hope that they can get this sorted for you!

If you are going to have a TT then I would think that the new placement of your Belly Button will sort out many of the problems :-) I hope your insurance will give the OK and that you can sort this problem out.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
