I have been banded for 5 days now and was wondering if I should change my bandages. They are still stuck very well and don't know if I should force them off or not and let them "breath"....any advice is really appreciated... Zen

if you're talking about the steri strips don't pull them off. they'll come off on their own in time. If it's other bandages there should be instructions on your discharge papers... or call the dr. Probably best to call. You don't want to pull the incisions apart!!!

Leave them on! If they are the steri-strips (sticky and applied right to the skin) you want them on for as long as possible. If the ends start to fray you can cut them, but definitely don't take them off. Pulling them can pull your skin apart plus they are good to have on to allow your skin to bind back together.

I think mine stayed on for a good week or two and my scars look great.

Def. check your discharge papers...I have "skin clips" aka stapples...I was told to remove bandages day 3 and shower. But these were " bandages" no steri strips...I am day 7 today and cannot wait to get these staples out...good luck

I agree if they are steri strips (probably the pink ones) leave them on. The gauze take off- 5 day old gauze is not going you any good!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
