BetsyB 9 Posted August 30, 2010 Nah, you didn't really gain a pound. A pound of fat represents 3500 extra calories; you didn't take that in. What's going on is that your body now is dealing with solid food, and therefore solid waste---and it's sluggish after "resting" for so long with liquids. Things will get moving. Please don't be afraid, as some people are, about eating; your body needs the fuel. It will "remember" how to handle it efficiently. And your loss will pick up. 2beskinny 4 Posted August 30, 2010 Boy am I glad to see this thread this morning. I ate a little too much over the weekend (yes, I was bad and ate a few Cookies along with larger portions of my regular foods). I was up 3 pounds this morning....yikes!!! I know I didn't eat 10,500 calories too much so I am calming down about it. I did eat more than the 1100-1200 I've been sticking too for sure...I was beyond hungry this weekend. It's definitely the hardest time I've had since I started the pre-op diet till now (6 weeks postop today!). I am trying to remember that this is why I got banded...it's hard to lose on your own and that's essentially all I've done for the past 8 weeks. So I ran 2.5 miles this morning, lifted weights and will stick to my diet and drink LOTS of water! 2nd fill is 2 weeks from today...bring it on!
tylee72198 10 Posted August 30, 2010 I did the exact same thing when I started back on solids. Wish I would have known that would happen because I was stressed and disappointed in myself. ETA - Went to a support group meeting, and I was told that when you start on solids that you will usually gain a few pounds.
reverie 49 Posted August 30, 2010 Just like Betsy said, you're okay! Don't worry about a pound. There is no way that you gained a pound unless you went completely crazy this week. Remember that you're just now introducing normal food back into your system, so it may take a few extra days for your body to get the hang of things again. Don't dwell on it and don't let it get you down! You're doing great; keep your head up.

hotsexyrunnerchick 5 Posted August 31, 2010 Yaaaaaay .... I started TOM today .. so I attribute that to my pound gain ! *hopefully*
Knaroz 31 Posted August 31, 2010 Yeah after losing almost 50 straight in the first month over the past week I have gained 1. Blew me away when I was tossing up -6/-7 lbs a week to see a positive on the scale. Had my first fill but it was small no restriction so I figured I must be overeatting. So I started tracking calories just to make me feel better. What did I find out, I was only eatting 400-600 calories a day even though I felt like I was eatting every chance I could, and when I would exercise I was burning a minimum of 400 (sometimes 600). So my body had went into "Starvation mode" and quit burning calories efficiently. I made myself start eatting a few more calories and when I bumped it up closer to 1k (especially on exercise days) the pounds began to fall again. Keep your head up, as my wife likes to tell me, its just the beginning.
Momto3redheads 18 Posted August 31, 2010 Don't fret - it happens to all of us! I can always tell when my TOM is coming as I will gain a few lbs (which I cannot justify by what I have eaten!) and then afterwards it goes back....sure can freak you out at the time, though!
