Reflux but no PB'ing or vomiting! Confused!

Recommended Posts

Hiya, I made a thread a couple of weeks ago about how I've recently started having reflux during the night and/or first thing in the morning (it's like I forget to swallow or something and then all of a sudden I get woken with an acidy vomit taste in my throat). I only had it a couple of nights in a row and decided it must've been due to eating food to close to bed time as it dissapeared for a good week or so.

However, it happened again last night. I don't PB often...probably about once a month...if that, and only if I've eaten too fast, and usually its on something that I know doesn't go down (steak or bread) well at the best of times. I don't vomit and apart from this reflux happening, I feel as though I am at a good point with my band as I still get full on smaller amounts but am able to eat what I need to. If anything I would think that perhaps I need a little more in as I'm still hungry pretty much all the time, its just that I get full faster and off smaller amounts (which to me was the main purpose of the band - so I'm happy with that).

So my question is....does anyone have problems with reflux and yet they KNOW its not due to their band? Do you take anything to help with it??

NB: I recently had an abdominal ultrasound done and the tech asked me if I've been having reflux to which I answered yes - however I haven't heard anything back from my doc so I'm assuming it's not band related.

Any ideas???Suggestions??? THANKS in advance!!

You mentioned eating too close to bedtime but not about drinking. When I was having reflux issues, it was suggest to me to stop drinking anything 1 hour to 90 minutes before bedtime and stop eating 2-3 hours before bedtime (and only a light meal at that). Those 2 things helped with the reflux issue. Otherwise, you may need just a tiny unfill to resolve the problem, especially if the tech could already notice that you were having reflux problems by the ultrasound.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
