HarleyNana 10 Posted December 10, 2005 Yikes, that doesn't sound good if the doc thinks it's an infection, but at least he got a jump start with the meds. Take it easy and don't over do it this weekend.
NJChick 3 Posted December 10, 2005 Yes, go see him. It can't hurt to make an appt. Better safe than sorry. Sorry I had to laugh at what your DH said. What does he think they dropped in there, the doc's rolex watch? I am laughing b/c after I had my appendix out in 1990 (I have a HUGE incision from that about 6") and I was feeling muscles / intestins twist this way and that way, my DH said the same thing to me "Hey, maybe the doc dropped his watch in ya" DUH!! ROFL.
rosinamk 0 Posted December 10, 2005 Cheri- You are definitely doing the right thing. By taking your meds, and paying attention to your body, you will be on your way to recovering from what sounds like to me an infection. If the firm tenderness is located on a incision site, I would say it definitely is an infection, therefore, the keflex(cephalexin) should make you feel better in 24-48 hours. You ABSOLUTELY have to follow up with your Doctor on Tuesday or sooner if available. Remember, there are 3 sure signs indicative of infection: heat/warmth, redness/erythema, tenderness/pain. Also, I am assuming your surgery was done laparoscopically, with 4-5 "keyhole" incisions. If this is true, then the chances of the surgeons leaving an instrument or gauze in you are VERY slim. Remember to try to drink plenty of Water. Have you checked your temperature? Do bed rest. Best of luck, I know you'll be fine since youre doing the right thing.
