What do you use to moisten your meat?

Recommended Posts

Normally, I like to taste my meat. chicken on the bbq with little flavor, steak with no flavor, etc. I enjoy the taste of the actual meat. My husband is not like me and he douses everything in sauce, but I don't like my food that way.

I am afraid when I start eating food again I am going to need to moisten my food more, and I'm not going to like it.

So what do you use to moisten your food? My doctor recommends light mayo, light Salad Dressing, salsa, etc, but none of those sound good to me on chicken and steak.

If your grilling it, what about wrapping it in foil after a few mins of sering the meat... With some extra virgin olive oil, or i can't believe its not butter, even maybe 1/2 cup water...??

I haven't had any problems with meat...and I have prett good restriction. I always marinate our steaks with some evoo and s&p and the use a tenderizer to poke holes in it. as for chicken...i love salsa over my chicken. what I do is raw chicken in a casserold dish, a can of salsa and bake till chicken is cook and then sprinkle some cheese over top. super moist and so yummy if you are needing a mexican kick!

Crockpot...that has been great for me. Keeps the meat moist and I can get it down pretty easily. Also, I have a Deep Covered Baker from Pampered Chef and it is great for cooking meat in the microwave. When I don't have time for the crockpot, the microwave has been great...keeps the meat moist and juicy.

I am a steak lover, and there is no other way that I want my steak other than grilled, and I stayed away from it for a long time because I did not think I would be able to get it down. To my surprise it went down easily...I had my husband cook it a little rarer than usual, but it was fine.

Good Luck,

Michelle

I can't douse a steak with anything, either. I eat it rare, and in tiny bites, well-chewed. I do this with most meats--I just make sure they are moist. Some days, they go down well, others are tighter---but sauce doesn't really make a tight day looser, so I stick with what I like :cursing:

Agree- So do I and the meat usually comes out falling apart. It is great and most of all...most of the time it is a one dish meal..no extra dirty pots etc! Which is a plus for me!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
