Theresa,

Thank you so much for the kind words.

A lot of it depends on how much you have to lose. I had quite a bit to lose. Even after 100 pounds I still have almost as much left to lose as some people start off needing to lose .

Can't say I've done anything special. Just eating less. I try to listen to my band. I don't always succeed, but I try to stop eating when I get a soft stop (my nose runs).

Have you been charting your food? exercising? not eating slider foods? How many calories a day have you been doing?? How is your fill?? Too much?? Too little???

I try to stay under 1200 cals a day (though, I find if I'm not diligent about eating more I tend to only get in about 600-700 a day.... I truly believe that's why it has taken me this long to get down 100). I chart my foods on dailyplate.com

I do not exercise much... another reason for what I consider a slow loss (for me, at least). I have just started doing weights while sitting down (exercising my arms since I have a really really bad knee). I occasionally try to do Water aerobics, though even that can cause me knee issues.

I attempt to get in all my Water (at least 80 oz a day) and try to get in at least 90-100 grams of Protein a day. Both these things I am not always the best at.... though my intentions are good :frown:.

I believe we should take a Vitamin every day (another thing I am not so great at). I use chewable Vitamins, Vitamin Cottage has some really good ones (I like the pineapple flavored).

If you would like to PM me please do so. Us CO girls need to stick together. Too bad you don't live closer, I have a few girls I meet with monthly or so for support. They were all banded by Dr. Kirshenbaum (though I wasn't). It is great to have some sort of support. Do you have anyone near you? Do you go to any support meetings/groups??

julie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
