Were you not prescribed medications to help calm nausea? If you weren't maybe you can call and ask for some?

Hi Monday,

I also was banded this past Monday. I had one brief episode of nausea during recovery, but none since then. My post op orders say to notify the MD if vomiting...that vomiting is not normal. PLEASE contact your doctor again and insist on some answers or on being seen. I did notice I was more likely to feel "yucky" if I sipped to much to fast. MAybe try some ice chips. I hope you feel better soon. Hang in there:smile:

I would be more forceful with your surgeons office. I had no nausea at all; and while I was not really hungry the first few days I could swallow and keep broth down.

That does not sound normal. I had my surgery 8 days ago and was able to keep down fluids and did not vomit. YOur doctor should have given you a prescription to stop the nausea. You need plenty of Fluid to survive and not get more ill. You need to contact someone. Try to get fluid down ASAP.

I had my surgery on Monday. Monday night and early Tuesday morning, I found that every time I got out of bed, I felt nauseated. After a few hours, that subsided. I think it was the anesthesia in my system and the IV was able to flush alot of it out. Are you getting your fluids in? I have not felt any nausea since Tuesday a.m, but after having beef broth yesterday, I immediately felt a little queasy and stopped drinking it. I think it has oils and other flavorings that could be too strong from my stomach. I'd suggest you sip your Water and chicken broth, if you can, and also call your surgeon's office. Good luck to you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
