Stuck and Sliming in the Morning but not at Night ?

Recommended Posts

I am almost a month out of surgery and for the past few days I have been getting stuck and sliming during Breakfast. I am thinking its cause I am so freeging hungry at 8am that I scarf down my food... but I took it slow this morning and the same outcome .

Is the band tighter in the morning or something ? Help ?!?!?

Many bandsters feel tighter in the mornings. I usually can not eat food for Breakfast. On days I work I drink a Protein Shake for breakfast. On my days off I can eat oatmeal or something after I have been awake for several hours.

The band is usually tighter in the morning. Try a hot cup of tea or something to help loosen it up.

I was banded a year and a half ago. Yes, my band did feel tight in the morning and I couldn't eat anything. My nutritionist told me to drink a glass of milk for my Protein, that worked and now I am finally able to eat breakfast early morning

I think most bandsters experience this - I know I do!

I try to drink something warm before I even attempt to eat anything. Of course, some days, it's 11AM before I'm even able to get anything down.

By dinner time, I'm usually good.

Well, luckily, I've never been much of a morning eater anyway - I'm not one of those people that can get up and just eat. I need some time to adjust to the day. LOL

I know that this is struggle for a lot of bandsters though - usually Protein Shakes are what I hear from everyone.

My band is tighter in the AM. If you're a coffee drinker get some Unjury Protein unflavored powder and add to your coffee. Just remember that you have to wait until your coffee gets under 130 degrees before adding the powder. But I don't taste any difference and that is already 20 grams of protein right there. That should hold you for a little while until you can eat yogurt or something to eat.

Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
