Is there anything that you regret not eating before your band? Something that you cant eat now?

Is there anything that you cant eat now that you have your band that you thought you would be able to eat?

Have your tase buds changed? Does food taste different?

Just a few things I've been wondering about today..like..."Am I gonna be able to eat celery?"

I did the same thing, but don't worry. You will be able to eat everything you can now just in smaller portions.

I miss bread and Pasta. I can't eat them anymore. If I eat one bite, I can't eat anything else. I seem to get stuck. Other than that, I can eat anything else, just in smaller portions.

When it comes to the band, there really aren't any "off-limit" foods. If you don't have tight restriction, most things go down okay as long as you take small bites and chew. Things like bread and Pasta can cause issues though.

I think the point is that with the band you can eat anything; junk food, pasta, rice, anything. The focus is to realize what's healthy and what's appropriate to eat to keep your body in weight-loss mode. Of course, having pasta or bread every once in awhile won't kill you; it's always nice to treat yourself.

Before surgery I LOVED, seriously LOVED rice and pasta. I would eat it until I literally felt sick because I ate so much. With the band, I haven't really had much of these nor do I crave them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
