I have a dumb question about soups/stews

Recommended Posts

Since fall is coming I have a really stupid question to ask. My doc said after the pre and post op diet no more liquid foods b/c they would slide right through and make me gain.

What about soups/stews and chili?? I like to make one pot meals like that when it's cold outside.

All the doc's and dieticians that I have worked with in this process say no to Soups once post op an on regular foods. Stews and Chili are ok. No to Soup since its a slider food and will not fill you for long. BUT EVERY DOC IS DIFFERENT.

I agree with Cindy. I eat Soups and chili all the time.

I have trouble with solid meat and chili is a great way to get in some Protein for me.

What my surgeon said was if I can eat it with a fork, it's okay, but no spoons.

I make a really thick chili, and I do eat it with a spoon, but that's so I don't drip it on my chest.

I haven't made a stew yet (still too warm for it), but I'd think if it were thick, it would be okay, or if it isn't thick, just eat the stuff out of it (veggies and meat) and leave the liquid behind.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
