spoiltmom 44 Posted August 23, 2010 Since fall is coming I have a really stupid question to ask. My doc said after the pre and post op diet no more liquid foods b/c they would slide right through and make me gain. What about soups/stews and chili?? I like to make one pot meals like that when it's cold outside.
malinda1229 1 Posted August 23, 2010 All the doc's and dieticians that I have worked with in this process say no to Soups once post op an on regular foods. Stews and Chili are ok. No to Soup since its a slider food and will not fill you for long. BUT EVERY DOC IS DIFFERENT.
cwm812 11 Posted August 23, 2010 I eat Soup and chili all the time. Chili is one of my usual lunch items. As for soup, I tend to like really thick, hearty Soups. This is not a slider food for me. Cindy
Humming Bird 275 Posted August 24, 2010 I agree with Cindy. I eat Soups and chili all the time. I have trouble with solid meat and chili is a great way to get in some Protein for me.
Melinco 1 Posted August 24, 2010 What my surgeon said was if I can eat it with a fork, it's okay, but no spoons. I make a really thick chili, and I do eat it with a spoon, but that's so I don't drip it on my chest. I haven't made a stew yet (still too warm for it), but I'd think if it were thick, it would be okay, or if it isn't thick, just eat the stuff out of it (veggies and meat) and leave the liquid behind.
