I'm feeling good, love have so much more variety. am excited about solids. Wow that's wild about the band, had you had a fill recently, or just all of a sudden it was tight. did the doc offer any explanation? sounds pretty perfect for 5.7. I I've been meaning to ask you about your avatar pic, is that sheet music. are you a musician?

No I hadn't had a fill in ages, that was the strange thing. I want to say it had been over six months. Most of that time though I was very tight but it was manageable. I started to cough at night, in addition to not being able to keep solids down, which really reminded me of when I was dilated. Hence the paranoia. I don't think a 0.5cc un fill will make all that much of a difference but my coffee and Protein Drink and Soup have all stayed down today, so yay.

Ze band can be a fickle little thing.

Any luck on the weight loss front?

Have a plan in place before you go back on solids next week so you don't "go wild" and backslide. You probably don't have much restriction yet.

Oh, and I forgot, when I made my avatar I had been really into playing my flute, just for fun. Sadly to say, now I haven't played in a couple of years although I always have good intentions. Gardening and knitting are my current hobbies, other than losing weight that is!

I am seeing Dr. Teel at Premier Bariatric in Dayton. He is really nice, and his staff is also. I like the fact that he is not that far away. He is about thirty minutes away. I have seen the dietician and the pyschologist and that was nice, everything was done in the same place. I am hoping to hear something back this week from the insurance company. The waiting drives me nuts!

Hi Angie!

Good luck with jumping through the insurance hoops! I was self-pay also because mine wouldn't pay because my BMI wasn't high enough. I've lost 80 pounds now and all my co-morbidities are gone so who was right? sheesh.

Hang in there!

Annie! I always have good intentions about knitting, but I love to garden. I wish I could play an instrument too. maybe some day.

Good advice on having a plan, I'm working on it now so I"ll be ready on Tuesday.

That is a crazy story about the band, I'm glad things are getting better now.

I had a salad for lunch and it stayed down. Isn't that amazing? Just an un-fill of 0.5 cc to make such a difference. I'll have to be very careful not to overeat! That's with something like 11.5 cc's in a 14 cc band. Such a persnickety piece of plastic.

It has been a beautiful day, nice sweater weather.

What plans have you come up with? I'm always looking for new ideas.:)

Annie, so my sources of recipes for next week come from theworldaccordingtoeggface web page, if you havent been there you should go, great recipes from a wls person.

My meal plans and recipes are also coming from a favorite book I have called The Instinct Diet. It's not geared toward WLS but it has great 1200 cal meal plans, and food advice, and recipes, highly recommended.

Then I bought a book for 5$ from the store that is called eat up slim down. it's like comfort foods only low cal / fat. I havent tried it yet.

I found the "eggface" site and put it in my favorites. It looks like a great resource, thanks!

My DH is on a business trip and the kids have bopped home. I'm amazed how much they can eat. This morning two of them split 6 eggs and 6 pieces of wheat toast with butter and big glasses of OJ. Sheesh. Both skinny as rails. Go figure. I could probably live on that for a week. Oh well. I need to get exercising that's all there is to it. (I found out that I have bursitis in my hips which annoys me when I walk, so I plan on having them injected so I can move more freely)

Do you have any plans to start an exercise program? I would like to join a yoga class, but I have to find one first.

Hi ladies,

I just got the good news today.. my surgery is for November 16th! I am excited and scared all at the same time. I have to go the 4th for my pre-op testing. I go on the 25th of this month to see the doctor and find out about my pre surgery diet. Seems hard to believe it is finally going to happen. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning!

Angie congratulations, the pre surgery time can be a process and a journey all on it's own, well depending on your doc's requirements and your insurance company. It was great for me to get into the right frame of mind.

Lisa

Oh Annie, foods are going well, religiously journaling on my fit day. definitely good for the ocd in me, doing good even though I'm at the office.

Congrats Angie! That didn't seem to take long at all. Do you have to follow a pre-surgery diet? It's great to get you in the mood to lose! By next Christmas santa can bring you all new clothes:)

Lisa, great job on the journaling! That is so important to get a handle on what and how much you are eating. You've already lost quite a bit; are you noticing it yet? I'm still stuck at my weight...Oh well.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
